Crimson Desert - Not an MMORPG…anymore

Where did you see this ? I thought previewers only got to play the first 4 hours. Followed by two hours of endgame character build.
Just initial impressions from the early part of the game and the creators comments, but if it's weak at the start it doesn't usually get much better further. It does feel like this game is going be more focused on the exploration and discovery than a tight story, also going from comments I'm hoping there is a wider range of side quests than indicated so far.

Ah fair enough.

I guess now only time will tell. I’m pre ordered up so will be playing day one. Will give some honest feedback if I can. But reviews will be out by then I guess.

The review embargo lifts a day before release, so enough time to have a read and make an informed decision. I will most likely pick this up, whilst I like a solid story I'm also happy with exploring and finding things hidden away, it was one of the things I loved about Elden Ring the most, the combat etc was great, but the sense of exploration was second to none.

Zelda was one of my all time fav yet imo the story was weak and forgettable.

I was a fan of the BDO world, so I'll be keen to see if there's any bits of lore dumped around this game's world that links to any of the stuff from BDO.
To my knowledge, it's set in the same universe but not the same specific world.

I'll definitely pick it up at some point, just not day one.
I think that I will probably give it at least month or two for major bugs to be shouted about and hopefully fixed before I dive in... plus I have a whole bunch of other games that I should really finish off before I add yet another exploration style time sink into my collection.

Glad to hear that some have said it plays better with M&K as that's pretty much the only way I play these days.

I rarely take any of these YouTubers opinions seriously. They never say anything negative when they’re given early access by the developers/publisher.

I got caught up in the hype and fell for it with Borderlands 4 paying for the super deluxe edition.

Much like reading the review of a movie or a tv show in a magazine or tv show, you have to pick and choose your youtubers opinions, there are definitely shills out there but there are also people who assess things legitimately.

Absolutely, but I think this is going to be the type of game you need to play yourself really as I think the controls are going to be divisive for people. Not necessarily the complexity, more the feel of the game. Witcher 3 was a good example of this, I just hated how the controls felt. Mirage is another one I played recently that I hated how the main character felt.

Every video I watch the game looks awesome - minus the ott particle effects and motion blur.

I'd agree there, but I say that people should always play every game for themselves, people need to make more use of the steam refund windows, try out everything first.

The steam refund window is not that long. Many games suck in the first couple of hours and some games launch with horrific bugs. Say hello to Cp77.

Some games need time to cook after being released. Not ideal but it is what it is. Cp77 now is a far superior game then it was at launch.

A movie is different bro.

Once it's in the cinema. It's a rap. No more edits no more re shoots

Just do what I do, buy it, play 2 hours refund but keep your save files, wait a while, buy it again, do 2 hours more from your save file, refund, wait a while buy again, do another 2 hours of your savegame, before you know it you've seen the first 6 hours of the game. Thats what I did with Expedition 33 before finally deciding it wasnt for me despite trying my best to get on with it :)

Do the 20-30 times and you will have completed the game for free!

Like a begger chasing a cheese wheel down a street.

That's what @TNA has done with that new re9 game. Everytime he completes the story he gets a refund from steam
