    I5 Build

Not sure the case/PSU combo mixes all that well with the motherboard selected. The motherboard's main strength is that it lets you run SLI or Crossfire at 8x/8x, but with that 500W PSU I doubt I would ever want to stick even a double 460 solution in there, especially if you do not leave CPU at...

    Holly Molly, 3gb GTX595

Out of curiousity, who would actually really benefit from seeing 3GB Video RAM? I cannot at all see it from gaming? Would you ever hit that? In what kind of environment will you start to move towards using 3 gigabytes? I would think that two gigabytes might be overkill at this point, but I...

Any possibility of fixing this corrupted graphics card?

What? I mean, I can see how someone would want him in their house. Either for comic effect or to bring discount pizzas. Or for repairing gfx cards. I also agree that the next step up is the microwave. The oven did not work. But the oven is old. And should possibly be RMA'd. You cannot...

Finally made my mind up on spec

Love it, looks like a fabulous spec. As said, you can save some money and still get a 470. Overclocking it yourself is easy. The EVGA budget one looks good as it still retains a whooping ten year warranty. Apart from that, I assume you are going with a possible SLI in the future? Otherwise...

    Steam - Black Friday Sale

It is, unfortunately, mostly a horrible port and a mess of a game. For something showing so much promise, it was a huge letdown for anyone looking for a breath of fresh air in that genre.

    Steam issue HELP

Just a little advice to anyone in the same situation. Try to contact the retailer first. Just talk to them. At the end of the day, they are people too and they will probably help you out. Some companies out there still have decent customer service and it would behoove us all to take advantage...

    Gaming rig thoughts

Pretty sure I would stay away from the GX range of CoolerMaster PSUs as well. I have not encountered the actual tests before, so cheers for getting them; just a lot of anecdotal data. However, both the XFX XXX and Antec TruePower PSUs at 650W are looking really good for the price at the...

    P7P55D LE Crossfire help

The difference is pretty substantial, to the point where it is widely regarded as a waste to try to run Crossfire on this board; although it is advertised as Crossfire ready in reality it is a single GPU motherboard. Possibly for someone wanting a strong single GPU and a lesser nVidia card for...

My new rig-will it all be compatible before i buy it

Clearly the red is the true choice for the NZXT Phantom! And I am a bit confused, I thought the OP already had most of the pieces? Or is this an order still in progress? To be honest, if your budget is roomy enough for it I would probably also go for an i7. Not because it will run a lot better...

    Gaming rig thoughts

You can even drop down to i5 760 and fit in a 480 on the same budget with the savings on CPU, motherboard and RAM. Which beats the living hell out of i7 950/nVidia 460 for gaming.

    Spec Me!!

The processor and motherboard will not match. To go with such a configuration you would either need to roll back to a LG1156 compatible motherboard or get an i7 from the 900 series.

Quite definitely not. Your 5870s will be fine.

My new rig-will it all be compatible before i buy it

It should be adequate. Means you cannot overclock though, not that that is necessarily a concern at all. However, if it were me, I would definitely spend twenty pounds on a solid yet lightweight after market cooler to look after my new i7. I really do not care for Intel's basic ones and a cheap...

My new rig-will it all be compatible before i buy it

Personally I would rather go with the Patriot RAM if you really want 12 Gigs using three sticks. I assume you want 12GB for some reason while still being able to overclock freely? Otherwise you could easily go with 6x2GB? If gaming is your main concern, I wonder a little bit why you want 12GB...

The Corsair CX 430W http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-033-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1084 Nice price, nice brand. Excellent value and will last you.

My new rig-will it all be compatible before i buy it

As long as you are happy with your components, there is nothing wrong with this setup. All parts will work together, no problem there. I am sure other people will come up with alternatives for your build, but if this is what your heart is set on, your heart has chosen well.

    120hz vs 60hz

That is not an issue with your monitor at all, as Rroff pointed out the main culprits would be CPU or GPU. You should monitor them both when gaming and see what it is that bottlenecks when your fps drops like that.

    AMD Vs. Intel

Seeing that this thread, after the initial posts and Big.Wayne's wonderful graphs notwithstanding, offer little of value, I will offer this little hijack. To Big.Wayne. What kind of premium for performance would you consider to be good value? Given that I think it is fair to invoke the law of...
