Which brand is best for a card that's been mined?

Thinking from a warranty perspective, which brand out of ASUS and MSI would you favour for buying a second hand graphics card that you suspect has been mined?

Stress test for Kepler Quadro cards?

I'm wanting to test a K series Quadro card to make sure it's fully functioning, and I'm wondering if it's adequate to use a normal graphics card test (e.g. Unigine Heaven), or if this is inadequate for Quadros? Can anybody advise?

Cannot POST at anything about 2133MHz (Ryzen 1700)

I'm trying to get a new Ryzen 1700 based system up and running, but have run into the much-bemoaned memory problems (I thought they'd been mostly worked out by now..................) My motherboard is an MSI X370 Gaming Plus, which has been nice enough to run the 1700 rock solid at 3.9GHz, but...

Ryzen 1700 + Extreme LLC OK?

When there's no load at all the CPU is downclocking to a 15x multiplier and running a much lower voltage around 1.1V I think. I've not really monitored it under a variable load though.

Ryzen 1700 + Extreme LLC OK?

I'm trying to get 3.9GHz out of my Ryzen 1700 so I don't feel like I lost the silicone lottery (again). I'm using an ASUS Prime B350 Plus motherboard, and have set a voltage offset of +0.2V. Using HWInfo, I found that the VCCDR setting is quite a long way from the SVI TFN vcore reading...

    Utility to erase SD card?

Thanks but that looks like a formatting utility rather than secure erasure.

    Utility to erase SD card?

I have a Sandisk SD card which is faulty in that it keeps asking to be reformatted, so I have opened a return for it, however I want to erase the data that was on the card. Does anybody know of a good utility to do that?

Do I have an engineering sample CPU?

It is a stepping 1 CPU, but the version of CPU-ID is I think the latest one. Not sure if it's just not being detected properly.

Do I have an engineering sample CPU?

I've recently got hold of a second hand Xeon E5 2650 V3 CPU, however I'm concerned it might be an engineering sample because in the CPU-ID readout it says in brackets (ES) on one of the description lines, and does not mention the full CPU name: https://imgur.com/a/wepjL Everything else...

Way to download a large number of emails as pdfs?

Just to update, I ended up using Thunderbird and an add-on called ImporExportTools (so similar to the above suggestion). Ended up being quite easy to export them all.

Way to download a large number of emails as pdfs?

Does anyone know of a way to download a large number of emails as pdfs from a hotmail account? I'm using Windows 10.

Accelero Xtreme fan speed all over the place

I recently got a GTX980 with an Accelero Xtreme fitted to it, which I was hoping would be nice and quiet - but the fan speed is all over the place. Normally it will only run at 2000rpm, which I gather is actually 100% fan speed. When I try to set e.g. 30% fan speed in Afterburner, it usually...

    Improving lemon 7700k OC?

I have a 7700k which is struggling to hit 4.8GHz at 1.35V (which I gather makes it a bit of a lemon). It is almost Prime95 stable but not quite. What might be the best settings to change to try and make it solid? I'm using an MSI Z270 Gaming M3, AX850 PSU, 16GB 3000MHz Patriot RAM.

Is this VRM cooling good enough for a GTX980?

Oh - I thought motherboard VRMs usually have some fairly chunky heatsinks on them from the factory?

    Need help!

I'd guess it's some kind of thermal issue. You should download a temperature monitoring application like MSI Afterburner or GPU-Z and let it monitor what temperature your GTX970 is hitting during gaming. Another possibility is that your PC has contracted a virus or just become loaded down with...

Is this VRM cooling good enough for a GTX980?

Due to problems with the previous cooler, I've whacked an old Mono cooler with a giant single fan onto my GTX980 (EVGA ACX type) and put some aluminium heatsinks I had around on the VRMs with thermal glue. The Mono cooler itself seems to be doing a sterling job, keeping the GPU to about 50C, but...

The puzzle of the three X99 motherboards

Make it a fourth X99 - I was able to borrow a fourth motherboard which also will not load Windows. I'm using a USB flash drive for Windows 10 and a SATA DVD drive for Windows 8.1. I've tried different USB ports for the keyboard/mouse too. Really can't figure this out at all. Clearly there is...

The puzzle of the three X99 motherboards

Can anyone work out what is going on here: The players in this story are three X99 motherboards, one 5820K CPU, 16GB Kingston RAM, Windows 8.1 on a DVD, Windows 10 on a flash drive, and a pair of SSDs. Motherboard A seems to work OK with all of the above components installed into it and either...

Which metal thermal paste is the easiest to use?

Apologies if this has been asked before: Does anyone know which liquid metal thermal paste is the easiest to use? I have a delidded 7700k that i'd like to soup up a little bit. I'm thinking about: 1) The initial application; 2) Any accessories that come with the paste to make the job easier...
