Sooo, nephew plays this and has complained that his current gfx card isn't up to snuff and wants to upgrade. What card would you go for with a budget of £299 tops? Cheers.

    Official Home Gym Building Thread

Wifey says she wants a barbell and weights which I've been secretly hankering after. I think rubber coated/ tri grip would be best - are they much of a muchness or are there any recommendations? Likely to go for Olympic size bar.

That's pretty expensive unless you're going to use all the facilities all the time. If its just weights that you really want there's gotta be better alternatives? I workout at home with a bench and a set of Bowflex DB's - the only thing I miss is having a power rack to squat in, which...

Thanks, you've confirmed what I suspected. And yes I have been doing regular work on shoulder mobility and strengthening since your initial suggestion, I merely did the voodoo band on top of that out of curiosity, although the relief was very welcome all the same. Also paying attention to...

Late to the party I just got some voodoo stretch bands and did my shoulder and elbow. First impressions are pretty good- less pain, greater ROM. I wonder how temporary the feeling is and whether it to some extents 'wears off' - i.e. Is it just the initial sensation or is it going to require...

    Transformer

I've done 2 sessions so far - last Friday and Sunday - all the compounds at 20 reps for 3 sets and then some accessory work. All I can say is that I think I prefer 10x10 reps on squats vs 20 reps per set - old skool = new pain! I can see why no-one wants to do 15-20 reps on lower body anymore...

Not really, I tend to manage 150g per day, although that would make me shy of the 1g per pound of body weight that some use as a rule of thumb (at 180 lbs on the scale). Admittedly it would be more difficult without 20g 'yoghurts' (quark) and whey powder - not impossible but harder to do at...

Cheers. Oh well, I don't have Sky as I won't give a penny to Murdoch.

    NFL 2016 Season

Gutted that Raiders get to the playoffs and then lose Carr - massive loss for his throwing and his leadership influence on and off field. Can't see them winning tonight. Are the wild cards showing on tv or streams anywhere?

Hard to really judge or suggest a program without understanding your goals. What are you looking to achieve - strength? Mass? Do you play a sport that you're looking to enhance with weights? Or do you just want to look good in a T-shirt?! The more specific you can be the more tailored the...

So New Year and time to get focused. Would value advice along the way in helping me to achieve my goals, speaking of which that's a good place to start - 2017 goals: - Build lean muscle - No injuries, including burning out - Go from c19% bf to c10% bf So largely a vanity project ;)...

    Exercise machine

Prove you can stick at something by doing body weight exercise for 6 months and I guarantee that if you do, you won't bother with buying a machine in any case once you've seen the results of your training.

General advice is to cycle it once a year, twice max, otherwise you'll just fry your CNS.

GVT - kind of depends what you're trying to achieve. I completed a 6 week cycle just before Christmas. My goals were to try to add a little muscle but mostly to build some physical and mental toughness as I've never trained anywhere remotely in that volume before. Did it work - yes, I can...

Goals this year include - getting to 10% bf sustainably, and to put a bit of muscle on so I vaguely resemble the gymnast I used to be. It's vain but I did look good in a t-shirt :)

Yep, and make sure you start with the empty bar and work your way up slowly - if you haven't trained for a while your joints and tendons will thank you for it. Rushing with weights is rushing to get injured (and then give up). Good luck.
