I'm sure you already know you don't have much of a choice if you've chosen the HT-A9 as your speakers. And with this system residing in my toddlers play room plus it being toddler proof in all the right ways (my main consideration) I am pretty happy with the choice...
Same, no regrets. Think mine cost around £2150 with the sw-5 sub on pre-order at launch before the prices started to go up. Don't think I'd pay £3k+ for the new one with sub if I was in the market today and didn't have the OG.
We went through a massive back and forth over about a month to get them to finally honour the deal they offered us and we agreed to after they applied something much more expensive than us just continuing and not recontracting for some bizarre reason. Finally settled with no April price rise...
Added the Sony WH-1000XM5 to my collection. Mostly due to travelling. Impressed with the noise cancelling. Not necessarily the sound. Was pretty good once I EQ'd using someones settings on Head Fi forum. Was way too bloated on the bass side of things and sounded rather veiled before. Would not...
I am still rocking my HT-A9 with my SW-5 sub. Similar to you, right now I cannot get rears wired. Works great. I came from Sony ST5000 soundbar before. Don't think I could ever go back to virtual surround sound from a soundbar.
Yeah it's through the D+ app. I only watch full matches live so works for me, especially when you get 4k HDR with it unlike via Sky.
Very nice deal! Wish Virgin did our area but they don't.
I get my TNT Sports via my EE contract. Unlimited mins, texts, data + TNT Sports perk with big screen add on 4k hdr app on D+ for just shy of £30. To me seems the most cost effective way of getting it.
It was internet that was costing us a fair whack since we we gone from 60mb fibre to gigabit mid contract and were only 2 months into our gigabit contract, so whatever happened that would've had to stay at £53 a month.
I have a bit of a get out clause since they lied when we re-contracted so...
Had a shocker with Sky. About a week ago agreed to £101 to keep our package all the same (Sky signature + netflix + sports + 4k + multiroom + gigabit fibre) for the same package, from, £115 a month before. And somehow the guy ended up putting it through at £138 a month. Spoke to Sky again and...
I am chromecast enabled on pretty much all my speakers and use Roon as the software for multiroom music playback from Tidal as well as remotely (using Roon ARC). Roon also great for pooling together a mish mash of casting services into a single interface (though ofc you won't be able to group...
Great to know the certifications and standards are useless.
I guess ATM I can hang tight. My PC 2 floors above my main router and wired to a Zenwifi AX mesh node and gets 800mbps of my gigabit. Don't suppose anything exists to get that to full gigabit, but even then still just an incremental...
Sounds DOA if a standard like this only serves one room. WiFi 6 pretty much the limits of usable WiFi then? Won't ever get better delivering speeds at range?
Fair enough. For me it is mostly about the apps missing and functionality of those apps vs other fully featured smart TV platforms. Not that it overly matters once you add in an apple TV 4k box or similar I guess.
Top end Panasonic OLED sounds good. 144hz too and moving away from their awful smart TV interface in favour of Fire OS. Looking forward to seeing it in person at some stage.
