Forgive me for bumping this but customer services never got back to me and it'd be great to get some info on this.
If anyone out has further advice or a solution I'd appreciate it.
Some system info: Mobo: Gigabyte P35C-DS3R, 4Gb RAM, Current HD 100Gb
If anyone could get back to me with...
1Tb would be more than ample to cover what we need (500Gb would probably do too but if the price point isn't much different then I'd go bigger). Both the girls are using the PC for all of their music and work so the extra space would be handy. It's also running Office 365 which is quite chunky...
Hi
I'm happy building PCs but haven't done this particular swap before so just wanted to check with someone to see if I need to be particular about which type of SSD drive to get if I'm using it as a clone for a Windows drive on a pretty old PC.
The Gigabyte Mobo has SATA so connection...
Just an update and I'm willing to put my hands up and show my ignorance but it might save someone else at a later date.
It turns out that there's a 'power saving' option for Bluetooth devices which is enabled by default in Windows 10 (which makes absolutely no sense on a desktop machine but...
Woah. That's interesting - why on earth would they make the frequency the same as the broadband (not that anything can be done about it!).
Maybe I'll watch out for the missus cooking noodles next time it all goes haywire :-D !!
Thanks for the advice
Today there were no drop outs at all. Worked flawlessly for 8 hours straight.
Are there outside influences (wifi boosters etc) that can influence bluetooth connectivity as this intermittent problem is very hard to pin down.
new win10 build (since Middle of December)
Surface keyboard and mouse (both new) both with over 90% battery
Only started happening in the past week (previously been fine)
I uninstalled and repaired them both but the problem persists
Any advice or ideas (or is this a known problem?
thanks
Chris
Hi
Wasn't fussed about getting free games but I have them so...
I've got a choice between Tom Clancy Ghost Recon or Borderlands 3.
I prefer to play either puzzle or adventure games (Prey, Bioshock, Tomb Raider, etc). The first game (Ghost recon) just seems like I go round shooting and killing...
Doh!
That was it - what a thicky!! :rolleyes::rolleyes: Like I said, it's been a long day... :-D
But I appreciate the help anyway - it's nice to have an easy solution once in a while... Now go and enjoy your kudos! :D
Hi all
Firstly can I say a big thanks to everyone on the OC forums who helped me get this far. I'm typing this on my new build which I put together today (with almost no problems).
I have everything working except one thing and I'm being lazy in asking rather than investigating but it's been a...
This is a brand-new build so there's no OS at all. (It's currently all in bits on the bed!)
I take it I can download the actual Windows product using my laptop, pop this onto a USB stick, install windows to the new system and then activate using a legit code? Or is there a more clever way...
Forgive me for posting here but I couldn't find a area of the forum that was relevant and it is tenuously hardware since it's about my forthcoming build (after buying all the bits from OC recently).
Could anyone recommend a reliable source for buying windows 10 home for a new build (I guess...
Thanks guys. I'll open up the case 2moro and have a root around. And the link Sandy's provided seems like a good shout for getting the actual transfer done.
Cheers
Chris.
Thanks guys
yeah, I'm running Windows 10 no problem.
I have the SSD - I'm presuming (since I haven't investigated this any further than this actual post at the mo') that I'm going to need some additional hardware - that's kind of what I was looking for as well. Is there some sort of SATA...
Hi
Can anyone recommend a good belt and braces guide for transferring the OS of an old PC to an SSD (website or YouTube tutorial etc)?
My mobo is an old Gigabyte P35C-DS3R (yep, it's that old  )
Thanks :)
Hi all
Thanks for the input so far :)
Not really wanting it or not - I'm just ascertaining whether the price differential will be worthwhile in the long run. OCUK are currently running the CF34 at £494 (which is probably why it is out of stock :D).
I'd be willing to pay the premium 'if' the tech...
Interesting.
That then also begs the question - is it worth swapping out my mobo choice in order to have access to Thunderbolt (not that I'm going to - the question is currently hypothetical! :)). How important a technology is it (or likely to become in the future?).
