Ha, update has arrived ! Still Android 11 and OneUI 3.1, just a security update to Dec 2022 which is all I expected. Probably the last update it will get.
I have a MSI B550m mortar wifi with a 5900X and 32GB RAM. That is 4 x 8GB of Corsair 3200 RGB, not sure exactly which. Rock solid, brilliant set-up. Only thing I came across, and is peculiar to this board I think is that the RAM runs strictly at XMP profile settings. Any attempt to set it...
It will never happen, it isn't consistent with the design philosophy of W11. I've got used to it. At least File Explorer has tabs now, that is a big plus. My major issue with W11 is horrible SSD speed on my Ryzen laptop compared to W10. And I do have the latest drivers. Very seriously...
They are certainly a stonkingly good performer at stock. Unless you really need the extra speed, I'd say enjoy it as it is. OK I've run mine at stock for 18 mths now and I'm getting the tweaking bug, not because I need to but because I'm simply curious.
Oh, if you don't mind, could you explain briefly how to do that ? Currently I simply manually lower the PPT (and nothing else) to curb my 5900X's appetite for pulling as much vcore as it can on 12 thread loads.
Just to confirm, this is exactly what I did and it went smoothly, no problems whatsoever. Thanks again for all the advice.
These M2 drives are SO much easier - slot them in and job done. No cables at all !
I assume that the machine could boot from the SSD M2_2 slot ? If so then I think it is really easy for me - put the existing SN750 boot drive in there if it isn't already, and then put a new Gen 4 drive into the M2_1 slot and get full performance from it there. A change in the boot priority in...
Interestingly the WD Dashboard app says:
Capability Gen 3 (4 Lanes)
Connection Gen 3 (4 Lanes)
Suggests that the WD750 is in fact sitting in the second slot and not the first ? I don't have physical access to it at the moment to check.
Thanks, the first one is the boot drive. If I went that way, can that be cloned without causing adverse effects with Windows and other apps ? Which free cloning software would you use ?
Path of least resistance is to just populate the second slot. The Gen 4 drives are backwardly compatible in...
Hi all,
My knowledge doesn't go beyond SATA SSDs unfortunately. My current machine was built for me, and is an MSI MAG B550M MORTAR WIFI with 5900x sitting in it. The specs are:
2x M.2 slots (Key M)
M2_1 slot (from AMD processor)
Supports PCIe 4.0/ 3.0 x4 1
Supports SATA 6Gb/s
Supports...
Yes the two biggest gripes I have with Windows 11 are in this thread:
- "never combine" has gone
- "show more options" means an extra mouse click and that impacts me a lot
In terms of "never combine", I hated that not being there, but after a few months I've got used to grouping. Like it no...
Strangely I had to re-do the above after applying a cumulative windows update remotely. But VNC is working beautifully. It lacks clipboard transfer that Teamviewer has, but I can live with that. Goodbye Teamviewer with your not-really-free for private use. You are history.
Not sure, they are Corsair 3200 RGB kits, Vengeance I think, 32GB ( 4 x 8GB)
Whatever the issue, it is possible that current BIOS has improved compatibility. I tried it when I first got the board, have not tried since.
I have an MSI MAG B550M MORTAR WIFI with a 5900X in it, had it for about a year now. Works flawlessly for me except that you get a no-boot at anything above 3200 on the RAM and for that matter changing any setting at all with the RAM. I had planned to overclock the RAM or tighten the timings...
