AMD’s HiAlgo acquisition brings gamer-friendly tools to Radeon Software experience

Does Action allow you to record a subset of your resolution? I play games on 6036x1200 resolution, and use dxtory to capture the central 2133x1200 and downscale it to 1920x1080. But dxtory has issues with a couple of games (like DooM). I havent found another recorder which does the display...

    ****Official Doom 4 Thread****

Yeah, I have exactly the same issues. It's the only downside to an otherwise excellent game. (Well, that and the lack of working crossfire, of course.)

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Nice! How do you have 7 drives in it? I have 6 in mine, and have no idea how you'd physically fit and also wire up an extra drive, but if it's possible I'm interested.

3 monitors on a single card?

If you are planning to game on 3 screens, with modern games, you have to accept some compromises, or go for two or three graphic cards in CF/SLI. You might be able to achieve 60fps in most modern games with a top-end single card, but you won't be able to run at maximum video settings. It's a...

3 monitors on a single card?

This isn't accurate. You can always choose the 1920 x1080 option (asusming that's your monitor resolution), and it will output on the central screen leaving the others blank. You may have to change the Aspect Ratio (in the game's video settings) from Auto to 16:9 or "Widescreen" to be able to...

    The AMD Driver Thread

Another FC4 user here, it looks like the new driver has finally fixed FC4's crossfire issues for me. I just cranked up the settings to ultra on eyefinity, did a few minutes running and driving around, and saw no sign of the stuttering that was plaguing me before. Great work, a little later than...

    Multiple Monitors

Only if the card doesn't come with them. Some cards have normal sized displayports, some have mini-DPs and often have the adaptor included.

    Multiple Monitors

If you're not planning to game, and its for general windows use, a basic AMD 5450 is all you need. You'll need an active mini-displayport to DVI adaptor, for another £20 or so, for one of the monitors. If you have two graphic card slots in your PC, you could buy any two of the cheapest graphic...

    5850 to 6950 Crossfire or a 7970 single?

Based on my testing when I had them, 6950 is 30-70% faster than 5850, typically. 7970 is 50-100% faster than 6960, and 6950cf is 50-100% faster than single 6950 too. I didn't directly compare 7970 to 5850, but you can extrapolate from the above figures. In both cases, it's more common to...

    5850 to 6950 Crossfire or a 7970 single?

I went from 5850 -> 5850 cf --> 6950 cf --> 7970 cf. Personally if you have the 6950s, I'd use them unless you're sure you can sell them and get the 7970 for very little money. In my experience the 7970 performs about the same as 6950 cf, there's not much difference. The exception is games...

Epeens - UNITE! - A graphics card upgrade query

The slot size isn't important: all modern graphic cards will fit in the same slot. There's a big difference in physical size between media centre cards like the one you have now, and gaming cards. Gaming cards are usually much longer, and you might not be physically able to fit them inside...

    Eyefinity 3+1 setup question

I'm sorry to hear that. As a counter-example, I've been using eyefinity since the 5850 release, and the only issue I've ever had with it across many drivers is the fact that switching between eyefinity and extended mode isn't as smooth as I'd like.

    Eyefinity 3+1 setup question

I'd leave integrated graphics disabled for now while fiddling. Since its a new rig, did you have eyefinity running on this rig before upgrading to 15.3? If not, we can't be sure it's the drivers, it could be an issue with the mboard. Assuming it is the drivers though, here's what I would do...

problem with crossfire since omega 15.3s

Far cry 4 and dying light both have issues with crossfire for many users. But it sounds like your problem is worse than that. Was the crossfire disabled before you used the cleaner? Sometimes they introduce problems. If it were me, I'd use system restore to roll back to a point just after...

    The AMD Driver Thread

The Windows + P method doesn't seem to do anything. I tried setting up as you said, then when I switch between them it just stays in eyefinity mode. The enable and disable eyefinity mode seems to be working, but does cause windows to jump around madly. Is there any way to stop this? Also, is...

    The AMD Driver Thread

I have an eyefinity / extended mode issue. before setting up eyefinity, i set my monitors up in extended mode. Both windows and catalyst detected my monitor order as 1 2 3 (#1 on the left most side, #3 in the right mode side), with 2 being the main monitor. I created a preset so i could switch...

    The AMD Driver Thread

I noticed this too, and it's not what happened before the 15.3 drivers. I don't know if its a far cry patch or the driver, but before this update, you used to be able to select SMAA. It was buggy. But now if you select it, it gets disabled. It's a shame it was disabled rather than being fixed.

    The AMD Driver Thread

Regarding the r9 290: yeah, my 7970s get reported as 290s now by the amd drivers. It started happening I think with the 14.4 catalysts. I queried this at the time and was told it was normal. Is that wrong? I'll try lowering settings, or maybe just running without eyefinity. I see the same GPU...
