Lian Li A70B Review - BRAND NEW

Just wondering how the hard-drive cages are affixed, either by screws or rivets?

Those front intake fans would be a great mounting place for a 120.2 rad, and as you've shown you can use a Lian Li hard-drive caddy in the 5 inch bays.

Hi JC,

It's screwed in, so is easily removeable.

If i only had up to 6 HDD's to accomodate i'd use the supplied 3 drive caddy in the spare PSU location and (as you say) the 3 drive caddy for the 5.25" bay - that way there's plenty of room for a concealed 120.2 rad! :)

screws all the way

the HDD cages themselves are attached by 4 screws to the bottom of the case, and the 2 fan assembly is attatched by two screws to the bottom of the case.

very good modular aproach..... i wonder whether cases held together by screws all around is the future..... it's sure nice to be able to take this one apart fairly easily in the most part.

Hell, i think that a 120.3 AND 120.2 are possible internaly.... as long as you dont mind shifting the HDD bays back to accomodate it. They arent threaded holes so you could drill another set a bit further back.

Anychance either of you'd be a dear and remove the lot for me to see :D

I think this is my xmas pressie from the misses with a 120.2 roof :D

I feel a 2loop build comming :D

lots of space, and the distance from the bottom of the case to the bottom of the 5 1/4" bays is ~32cm, making it a snug fit for a PA120.2 @ 30cm long.

In fact, if you mount the fans "infront" rather than "behind" the front of the chassis, the depth of a Thermochill PA will allow you to still use the lower HDD cages if you re-mount them a few cm further "back" from the front (about 2cm?). I'd advise opening up the holes in the cages somewhat with some tin snips or something, but otherwise there is no reason why it wouldnt work, as long as you dont mind drilling the bottom of your case for 4 extra holes.

we should all be able to treat our selfs..

nice setup mate, and great review too.

Cheers,

Love the look and layout of this case.

Am i right in reading that the whole hardrive rack can be unscrewed and taken out as i have a lian li hd rack that can slot into the drive bays.

You're right in thinking that Deluxe! You can see it removed in Simonnance's last picture post: HERE

Acres of space! :)

yup, just screws, and it gives TONS of space.

Hell, if you really wanted i guess you could fit the PSU in the top bay and have the whole length of the bottom of the case free! Need to use 5 1/4" bays for HDDs though.

not sure you can get the added top anywhere around, and i'm not sure it'll fit any particular rad, but there are services that will cut your top for a reasonable price..... i've been quoted £20+ postage for cutting my roof for a PA120.3.

With a 120.3 you'll lose the top two 5 1/4 bays (3 if you have the barbs that end) and deff lose the top PSU bay & HDD rack (though i recon a trim with some tin snips might save the bottom HDD bay on the top rack).

Disapointed..... very dispointing

Due November... and I need to place order for new case end of this week if not next....

Perhaps not to worry ill proberly sell off this pc in few months time anyhow just like the last one lol
