Yea its a autoexec.cfg or system.cfg I used.

con_restricted=0
e_water_ocean_fft
r_ssao_quality=1
r_ssao_amount=0.2
r_SSAO_darkening=3.6
r_TerrainAO_FadeDist=1
r_HDRlevel=0.75
r_EyeAdaptationBase=0.2

r_UseEdgeAA=2

Just basic one really, I've got others that look slightly better but this one has given me the best performance so far and still looks good.

Tom's Hardware has done a comparison of the demo vs the full version, according to them its fully utilizing the quad core and is a great reason to upgrade your dusty old C2D.

Crytek must get a bit claustrophobic with so many bedfellows

I think very high settings may look better but then again I think all standard looks crap compared to using these config files.

Yea, no point in modifieing Cvars.

First I set then all to high except shadows on medium, then I exit the game, place the config files in, then leave it at that, if you look in the settings again you'll see some are now set to custom such as textures and Post Process.

I dunno whats going on because my CPU usage is about 50-60% which suggests its only using half of each core really.

I just rescued the Civilian from the school, not very far im doing it on Delta.

Oh there, it'll get laggy eventually, when you get to the relic stage and go into this dome thing were there is snow you FPS will take a massive hit, I restarted the game tho and it was slightly better, but it makes me worry what it'll be like when the whole island is snow :eek:

Turn you fan up to 50% then try clocking it to 680 Core. you using rivatuner?

I tried them, wasn't too keen really, i got about 25-30fps on the first level with my 8800 gtx so i went back to my custom configs.

Dropping the shadows to medium and dropping just the vegetation shaders down a step in the cvars gives me a pretty playable game.

Also got the sun rays enabled becase they look cool

Yea I use riviatuner, my GT is clocked at 680/1750/1000, cant go any higher, even at 100% fan, it aint temps, its voltage.

Are sun rays like that always supposed to be realistic because when I look up under trees I dont always see sun rays :confused:

Most FPS I've got on my rig is 13-18 FPS

How is everyone getting 25-30?

This with everything on very high except shadows on medium

Yeah theyre pretty subtle, if you get the sun directly behind some trees you cant miss em.

I must say; I'm VERY pleasantly surprised by this game. Thought it was going to be pretty graphics and no game play..but really enjoying it.

went round to mates and finally tried the full game and so far its considerably better than what i thought it would be although the AI is truly dreadful ,i mean even the original half-life enemies cover, flank and lob nades better ,,... some of the levels i was shown looked quite spectacular especially when being chased by the attack copters .. also whats with the flying controls in sp ? you cant set then to 'invert' for flying only ? so on the defend the skies mission i wouldnt of had a chance,,

overall im impressed but maybe not enough to go and buy it as cod4 and its mp aspect seems a better overall deal ... also no suprises in how tough the game is on current hardware crippling most machines to an avg 20fps and yes i know in 2yrs time everyone will have uber quad sli machines but i doubt anyone would want to play through it then
