The ONE AND ONLY ***OFFICIAL*** Crysis thread - SPOILERS!

I must say; I'm VERY pleasantly surprised by this game. Thought it was going to be pretty graphics and no game play..but really enjoying it.

Yea, crysis almost lived up to the hype :p

went round to mates and finally tried the full game and so far its considerably better than what i thought it would be although the AI is truly dreadful ,i mean even the original half-life enemies cover, flank and lob nades better ,,... some of the levels i was shown looked quite spectacular especially when being chased by the attack copters .. also whats with the flying controls in sp ? you cant set then to 'invert' for flying only ? so on the defend the skies mission i wouldnt of had a chance,,

overall im impressed but maybe not enough to go and buy it as cod4 and its mp aspect seems a better overall deal ... also no suprises in how tough the game is on current hardware crippling most machines to an avg 20fps and yes i know in 2yrs time everyone will have uber quad sli machines but i doubt anyone would want to play through it then

The AI is prettt crap I've noticed that, one of the guys was just running into a tree all the time and some just stand in the bush and you can walk right up to em and they dont see you.

Im at the bit where you have to shoot the exoskeleton off the giant walking thing on the aircraft carrier. Im managing that ok, but it just doesnt seem to die. coupled with the fact you cant actually see wtf youve already shot off, its really frustrating me. the nuke wont lock on either

what am i doing wrong?

Just installed Crysis and an AVG scan is giving me the following:

Anyone else had this, should I be concerned?

I was playing last night and it's an awesome game, spent a bit of time tweaking though and for my system the following works excellently. It's basically a mash up of two config files, one from this thread (thank you) and another from elsewhere. I've found my machine runs it with no lag at 1920x1200 in DX9 mode (I'm running Vista X64).

btw, having the crysis fps counter and info switched on actually produces noticable lag for me so those running it to keep check on their frames, try turning it off.

How can you turn motion blur off  It's one of the things that make it look so realistic.

I've got motion blur disabled too, personal preference i suppose, if it was more subtle like Half Life Ep 2 perhaps but oh well, disabling it gets me another 5fps :)

Most FPS I've got on my rig is 13-18 FPS :(

How is everyone getting 25-30?

This with everything on very high except shadows on medium

Tweaks.

I only have a 2.7gig opteron (single core) and 8800gts (600/1550/1700) and with the very high hacks and tweaked system.cfg I get 17-26fps. It looks stunning just like the videos and as long as it stays above 17 its playable for me.

Excellent best file yet. Getting 25-30 with this. And its actually playable when tanks turn up. I guess motion blur is pretty intensive.

Brr... Motion blur is one of the most annoying and vomit inducing elements ever created in DX. It's a special defect rather than special effect. I truelly hate it.

Another thing folks - except first few levels, with long shadows and sun rising above island do you actually think HDR helps some parts of this game? To me on many maps it actually doesn't look right and doesn't help visual experience at all. Let me show you an example of what I mean:

Considering this is suppose mid afternoon:
With HDR

Without HDR
Crysis_nohdr.jpg

Is it just me or medium shaders look better.

(btw, check out the frame rate on me 8800GTS... flipping heck...)

Im getting like 40-55fps constant with:
All Settings: Very high
AA:None
Res: 1280x1024

It looks really nice still even without the AA which i dont even notice:)

I know, I can run it in DX9 in compatibility mode all maxed out, custom config without loosing much of its HDR'ness with semi-decent frame rate. Those slow downs in DX10 don't make much sense tbh. Funny that. This game was supposed to be ultimate Vista switcher - proof that DX10 beats them all. And all they could come up with was disabling "highest" settings in DX9, otherwise it runs faster and looks just as good in XP.
