BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

God, there are a lot of whingers on here aren't there  :p

Good timing with my post above though.:D

The VESA mounts are indeed into the plastic. But since the monitor weighs no more than a bag of crisps* that's not a big deal. Mine just screwed on nice and tight with no problems at all. If you were planning to buy a load of these to use in an office full of grunts then I'd think again. If you plan to wall mount it, adjust it once and then leave it for 12 months until SWMBO makes you clean your desk then it's great!!

It's also a nuisance that you need to faff about to remove the leg. For me that's a price I'll pay to save the £150 that a Dell would cost.

For anyone who wants to spend more money then sod off and buy a Ferrari branded one - feel free to try and impress us all with how much you can spend

This is a *VALUE BRAND* monitor that kicks the stuffing out of most others on the market. It has minor foibles - deal with it.

* a big bag, I'll grant you...:eek:

Here it is...

Literally set it up 5 mins ago.

No dead pixels that I can see which is good. :)

Colour is a bit off - can some one recommend me some colour settings please. :)

Stand is fine for me, well on this desk any way. The base is an annoying shape as Ive had to move my speakers back a bit.

Initial thoughts - Im very very pleased with my purchase. Will try some games now. :)

lbt did you get a look at the panel inside whilst you had it open by any chance?

Not in any meaningful way.
I was more interested in being *very* careful not to open it more than I had to.

I'll see what I can see when I open it up again over the weekend...

****** , my wall mount lets me move the LCD in/out , left/right and tilt up/down. I do this depending on the use of the monitor / desk. As the mount is fairly stiff and the OcUK unit only has plastic threads it'll soon just pull away from the mount

Gibbo , is there any chance you could contacy the supplier & see what they recommend ???

You screw a SelfTaping Bolt into a tight plastic hole and it will hold your weight, I aint meant to be unscrewed/screwed weekly, fit and forget or unill you really need remove for legit reason.

Obv you aint going to hang from the LCD and it would break anyhow, but the hole being plastic and thread getting made by the bolt is not a bad thing, although I agree a metal insert would have been better.

Seriously - if you're looking for an excuse not to buy it then that's fine.

OTOH. If you mount it and the plastic cracks in the next 3 years then you have a warranty claim.

The back plate is made of the same material as the stand. The stand is mounted with 6 small screws screwed into the same plastic. (I know!). The stand load is spread over less area than the vesa mount. What's the problem? :)

Too dark for me with 35% brightness.

Just had a go on CS:S and its awesome. :D

Has to be my new favourtie purchase over my Z-5500 speakers.

This monitor is excellent. :)
