BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

I see thanks.

If i owned a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD rewriter would i need HDCP ?

Not at present as HDCP compliance hasnt really been activated. Even if/when it is though, you can simply use ANYDVD-HD to bypass HDCP. Obviously its a nice feature to have (future-proof), however, we still dont know if it will ever get used or not.

In the world of computers I think we all know that digital copy protection systems get broken. Its a fact of life. I wouldnt let HDCP compliance dictate whether or not you buy this monitor, especially if you intend to use a PC to watch BluRay and HD-DVD titles.

I know it may be a stupid question but will it run fine on a 7800gtx with my system spec? this will be the first part of my system upgrade so not interested in the games performance but i will use my 360 on it till i finish the upgarde on the system.

Done that, still nothing?

hmmm.... i have an outstanding order of this monitor?

my order has been dispatched like!

Damnit, I was going to frustrate Shep and tell him that there has been a major problem with these monitors being sold to thieves and they are currently suspending shipment, until further security checks can be carried out. I know how much he has been looking forward to this monitor.

:D

Anyway, Ive ordered one of these monitors, along with some other parts for a budget PC build.

Ive been using a top notch Sony 19" CRT for the last 6yrs and Ive been spoilt. Lets see just how this LCD monitor compares to my CRT.

BTW, this thread has been amusing - its been a long time since Ive seen grown men behaving like kids a sweetshop. :p

You could always run at a lower resolution, to get a decent frame rate in games, if your 7800gtx is struggling. It would appear that this monitor scales down pretty well.

If it helps, my 7800GT OC runs things like TF2, Portal and HL2 EP2 acceptably at 1680 x1050 but I could do with some more power as it is slower than 1280 x 1024. I think an 8800 GT would handle it perfectly though.

Got mine, very impressed for the money, the picture quality is top notch and I am VERY impressed with the quality of the scaling. only niggles:

Dodgy Stand

LED

Build quality of the frame is a bit shoddy, you can pull it away from the panel the dells are very tight. Not sure if this might allow the creepy crawlies in.

I would prefer not to have a shiney surround, as I can see the contents of the screen reflected in the edge perpendicluar to the panel which at the moment is a distration. Also I have a hairline scratch in the frame which is is very prominant because of the shiney surface.

yeah but my ponit is i have a trinatron 21" crt and the highest res is 1800 by 1440 or something like that lol but as the native is higher for this lcd will the 7800 gtx beable to do the native res?

i'm not interested about gaming with the pc as i will be building a new one over the next 2 months but thinking of getting this to kick start the upgrade plus in the mean time for gaming i'll use the 360 with it :)

So what I think you're asking is if your gfx can output 1920x1200, answer = yes :)
