Suspicious Parking Penalty

Send them a photo of your car with a sign in the back window (assuming that they took the photo from the front) saying "This car is a photographic prop. Photographing this car will cost a standard fee of £200. The act of photographing this car implies acceptance of these terms and conditions".

Add in an invoice for £200.

Surely this is every bit as legal as them claiming that parking there implies acceptance of T&Cs.

Heh heh, that is quite interesting. We should all drive around with a notice about the size of a Tax disc in the front window stating that. I wonder what NCP or the council run parking departments will make of that, considering they take photos of your car.

The only issue here is that if your car is in a public place there is nothing stopping someone legally taking a photo of it. On a McDs car park, you could more successfully argue that it is on private property.

I have also thought about another sign along the lines:

"Wheel lamp testing service. Any clamps attached to this vehicle will be tested for durability under a range of removal techniques. The clamp may be damaged or destroyed in this process. A standard testing fee of £200 will apply. Attaching the clamp implies acceptance of these T&Cs."

That plus small battery powered angle grinder is all that is required. Oh, plus a small sticker "Clamp failed under attack by angle grinder" to fix to the destroyed clamp.

Was there not a similar incident in the Sun a few months back where some horribly obese woman went to KFC and was there for an hour eating her bargain bucket and get the same fine? Maybe you should give the Sun a ring :) IIRC she got away with it by writing a letter to the UK head of KFC

HAHA thats great! LOL

My sister had something exactly the same. She phoned up asking for proof of the fact that she was the driver and the offence in question and they dropped the charges.

Well doing that probably has about tha same standing in law as the "fine" they try to impose. :p

I had one a year or so ago. I wrote them a letter informing them that i had no intention to pay anything. I was not the driver of the vehicle, they can try to find the driver of the vehicle but I will not be helping them in any was as i don't have to.

As I considered this issue now clossed, no further correspondance was required except a single letter saying that they have understood and accepted my requirments set out in this letter. I then requested that all information regarding my identity be expunged from there records as they no longer have a need for them. Failure to comply or for anymore letters to me would result in me seek to prosecute the thieving sods for harrasment.

I included a copy of the relevent harrasment laws and not heard anything at all.

This was becouse i spent over two hours in a Tesco's car park in daventry. THe was a fire evacuation when i was going through the tills and they had the card details in the machine but no completed transaction bit.
