Its new car time \o/

How can you say that when you haven't even driven one?

I like the S2000, get some pics up please! :)

I said I think it is a great car, and I pretty well know I don't like the engine, not 100% certain, but close enough for an internet forum, that is based on me knowing what sort of engines I do and do not like, generally speaking.

I know what the fit and finish and interior and all that is like, I've sat in one a couple of times, just never driven one or been a passenger in one that was being given some stick.

You don't have to have complete personal experience of everything you comment on really do you, especially if you have enough other experiences to build a picture of what something may or may not be like.

haha some right ***ks about here

anyway, very nice car, have fun :)

Yes, and aren't you just the intelligent debater. I've read enough of your posts to get a very definite impression of you. And I wouldn't consider anyone who has posted in this thread up to the post before yours, a 'right ****' as you so eloquently put it.

Why do you insist on calling everyone a **** everytime you post in motors? Most done you a favour, for instance that shed of an MG you nearly ran out and swapped your Honda for.

What Fox said is spot on. Some people like having the power low down on a nice linear curve while some people, me included, enjoy working an engine and having the valves dancing on the bonnet to get the most out of it.

never called anyone a **** before to be fair.... i post once or twice a week in here and it would just be nice for people to be sound and just tell OP positive stuff or just not say owt at all, in a thread like this

thats all

Why? ...what is the use in having a discussion forum, to discuss different points of view etc, if all you ever hear, is what you want to hear ..or nothing at all?

A lot of people come here and do this precisely because this forum isn't full of people who all say the same thing. It challenges ideas and opinions.

I am glad, even thankful that people do not simply say, 'nice car mate' when such threads are posted around here. I had my own purchase questioned recently, I am glad that it was too, because it was all wrong and was costing me too much. The people here at OcUK, were able to get to me and say these things before my 'real' friends were, as I wouldn't have seen them until after it was too late.

Sometimes it may look or seem harsh, but I don't think anyone is going to get really offended by what people say around here, honest opinions and differing points of view are refreshing. I don't know about you but I get sick of hearing the same damn thing off a bunch of sycophantic numbskulls, 'Oh wow mate, nice choice', 'nice car' ...'good choice' ...it gets old after a while.

I know my responses can be fairly predictable at times, but then so can other peoples and thus a debate of differing points of view ensues. I for one am more open minded than I used to be, more open to the idea that something different may in fact be good or not quite like I envision. I think this forum is partly responsible for that to be honest, although I don't always convey my thoughts exactly as I would like, but that's mostly due to the limits of my ability to write it as I would like.

Welcome to the internet where people are allowed to express themselves how they wish while other people are entitled to come up with constructive counter arguements such as 'wow some of you guyz are cocks lol' Mr Moeks is being a little pretentious I'll give you that but why not make a valid point to make him look daft rather that make yourself look daft.

If everyone said wow nice car and little else this forum would be insanely dull and Moeks would be up to his eyes in debt because no one spoke out ;)

I havnt really read this thread so my words could be aload of fail. :p

All aboard the VTEC bashing is funny everyone thought I would never have one due to me having a laugh with the no torque joke. The S2000 is a fast car torque isnt everything. For me the S2000 is a decent NA petrol engine, you drive it hard and it goes.

I came from a 310bhp 380nm(more torque then some of you here :p) MR2 Turbo which can do 0-60 in 5.3sec standard (241bhp)

Another thing is everytime the whole diesel in 5th at 12mph will blow a petrol away half of you are like lolz its called a gear box we use it, why not apply the same logic for the S2000.

i know what ur saying and thats reason why i like this forum to. but still, here's a fella just saying he off to fetch his new s2000 soon then he gets thread derailed talking about how crap the engine is ect

to me thats being a ****

also reason why i didn't bother to post my new car, as the thread would have just been turned into same old bull**** every other thread gets turned into around here by the close "motors crew"

Well said, I probably am being a little pretentious, I'll grand you that, one of my many flaws I suppose :) ...but feel free to tell me, keeps me in check.

You say that like we spend every afternoon down the pub together.

I don't think anyone called it a crap engine. Post up your new motor please, as long as it isn't a Diesel, brand new or has VTEC you'll be ok ;) :p

I understand your frustration in that regard. Most |4 2l engines push out 150bhp stock, Ford needed Cosworth to help them achieve 170bhp and Honda have cleared that by almost 100bhp which is no mean feat yet people compare the car to a Z4 with a 6pot and call the engine gutless. If you want stupid amounts of torque go buy a diesel A4 Convertible.

I cannot agree and I hate VTEC engines. The thing is, I hate VTEC engines because they absolutely do not suit my driving style and not because they are crap because they are not - if you love to rev the **** out of your car then a VTEC powerplant is a hugely rewarding engine and delivers excellent performance, a Honda S2000 is NOT a slow car when driven in the correct manner.

For you, an S2000 would be rubbish, for me as well, but this doesn't make it a rubbish car full stop nor does it make Hondas engineers misguided simply because we'd prefer a niec 6 pot. There are other cars for people like us.

Not to our taste does not = crap. Surely you can see how VTEC would fit in with other peoples tastes? I'm all for slating fundamentally crap cars, like the Vauxhall Vectra, but the S2000 is very much not in this category. It's different, not rubbish.

Good, level headed post

No one is saying you shouldn't express your opinion truthfully. Your problem is that your opinion is based on rather important flaws. I.e:

1.) You've never driven the car in question.
2.) You have rather misguided preconceptions about the engine/car before you have even stepped in it.

Objectively, you have no foundation to base your opinion on because its all based on admitted inexperience of the matter at hand, and an apparent judgement made by what you seem to "have heard".

Yes, people don't get on with this car/engine - usually due to their driving style, but at least they put their arse on the seat before they started flinging mud.

Therefore you shouldn't expect to be taken seriously when you have no experience of what you are talking about yet come out with some vocal treasures such as:

it was owned by a lady for a reason, it's got a wizzy little 4 pot under the bonnet, if you want a 'big boy' car, buy one with a 'big boy' engine

Jokes or no jokes, you didn't exactly get off on the right foot here to be taken seriously.

I wont lecture you on wrapping it around a tree, you need a 'proper' engine to do that 'properly' anyway

Yes, of course you do

you drive an MX5!

I guess you've never driven an MX5 either.

but it's engine is a a serious weakness, just like the Honda.

That would be that engine you have no experience there again eh?

No, it's not so much about the speed, it's about the 'feel' of the engine, how it sounds and how it delivers it's power.

But you've never driven one so how would you know?

Enjoy your S2000 anyway Sin. Just think of what it might have been though, if Honda had done things differently with the engine.

No idea, but given as the S2000 is regarded by many as being the in the top 3 of it's class as it stands...

Oh I want to drive it, it's on my list of must drives. Maybe I will change my mind, but I doubt it.

No you won't change your mind, because you have already made it up. Based on nothing more than your preconceptions and prejudices. You've gone so far down the road, you aren't ever going to change your mind.

It doesn't make the right noise for a start

...........

Spend 20 minutes on youtube.

Some call Honda engineers geniuses, I call them miss-guided for the most part. I guess that comes down to preference for one philosophy of 'engines' or another though.

Again, don't really understand how you can make these sorts of statements when you have no experience. Just bewilders me. How you can you have a preference when you have no basis for comparison?

You don't have to have complete personal experience of everything you comment on really do you

Of course not. But it certainly helps if you want to be taken seriously. Especially on here.

especially if you have enough other experiences to build a picture of what something may or may not be like.

Experiences of what?

It's fine to not agree with something in principle. But you've passed judgement and asked for the executioner.

If you'd have said something like:

"I'm not sure I like the ethos behind the engine design and power delivery as it's a bit different, but i've got an open mind and will make my mind up when I try one."

But instead you posted all the crap above, complete with sweeping statements, unfounded judgements and all the rest of it. No wonder no one, including the VTEC basher certified Grand Master™ Mr Fox, agreed with you.

I've spent too much time posting this bumpf when the weather is fantastic.

Have a great day and try not to approach all decision making in this manner, as you'll miss out on some great things in life ;)

Good day :)

Drama! To be expected though ;)

I'll read all your lovely posts later chaps as I have to run out, have some pics though.

CD player is behind the silver panel ;)

Lovely car, never driven an S2000 but it is definitely in my short-list of replacements for the MX5 (if I don't turbo it! haha).

Enjoy the car matey!!

That looks fantastic, missing my s2000 massively in this weather!

Oh and take the airbox cover off :p

Stunning car m8.

At the end of the day, weather people like the engine or not, all that matters is that you like the car, and it is the car of your choice.

Have fun :)
