Borderlands

Offline = dodgy, IMO. Its ripe for hacked characters.

And I think two playthroughs gets you to level 50, which is the cap. Again, I'm gonna sound like a miserable b**tard but I'd prefer if it took a *bit* longer than that. I know Diablo2 takes you (or would take you, if it was endless Baal) about 40-50 full runs to get anwhere near cap...be nice to take a bit more effort.

I'm expecting DLC to raise the level cap at some point though.

At 100hrs game time with side quests 2 playthroughs is plenty!

Think you still need to fuss about with Hamachi and stuff to play online, i'm glad I bought the game anyway, the devs deserve it, it looks a great game

Right... So, a game is released with DRM and people cry that it's the end of the world.. A developer takes note of this and takes note of people saying that "DRM only hurts the legitimate user, I would be far more likely to buy a game if it had no DRM" and it's now a bad thing? :confused:

There's no pleasing some people. :(

I think most people accept a small amount of drm (cd key!) and particularly that pirated games tend to be harder online - in this case it appears the devs didn't bother so the pirates play it before us :(

This will most likely be of interest when we start playing, FOV and disabling the Voice seem to be the two biggies

Lots of threads popping up asking about vsync, mics, aa etc.

Here's a quick guide on how to fix some of those things.

Adjust the FOV (Field Of View) - Thanks Wasser

It's Important that you find:
Quote:
[WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput]
Add Below The WillowPlayerInput Section:
Quote:
Bindings=(Name="F11",Command="FOV 90",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
You can experiment with different FOV figures to find a field of view that suits you.

Played a few hours this morning, got to lvl 11. Clubbed together with some mates for the 4 pack on steam so hopefully I can copy the char across once that unlocks (I'm going to be busy at the weekend and don't want them getting too far ahead :p )

Fun so far, good humour and design. Havn't had a single crash and my framerates have been >50fps on the Sigged system at 1920x1200. Theres a slight occasional issue where some of the textures will flash green, but it doesn't happen very often.

Pathfinding for the AI can be a bit of an issue that i've noticed. Theres also some annoying console concessions with the Interface, things like having to use the page up/down keyboard buttons instead of being able to mousewheel scroll through quest descriptions gets on my nerves.

Overall I think it's going to be well worth the £20 it cost me.

Interesting, i wonder how you managed to play the PC version before the 30th. :rolleyes:

Sorry, how are you playing it (on your PC)?

A few additional tweaks posted on the gearbox forums:
http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=79043

To disable the startup movies:
-----------------------------
Within WillowEngine.ini:

Find:
[FullScreenMovie]
StartupMovies=2K_logo
StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo
StartupMovies=NVidia
StartupMovies=Loading
SkippableMovies=2K_logo
SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo
SkippableMovies=Attract
SkippableMovies=NVidia

and comment out lines like so:

[FullScreenMovie]
;StartupMovies=2K_logo
;StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo
;StartupMovies=NVidia
;StartupMovies=Loading
;SkippableMovies=2K_logo
;SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo
;SkippableMovies=Attract
;SkippableMovies=NVidia

To adjust FOV (Field of View):
-----------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:
Search for "WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput". Below the chunk of bindings, add the following:

Bindings=(Name="F10",Command="FOV 90",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
Bindings=(Name="F11",Command="FOV 110",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

You can change the keys (F10 and F11) to whatever you'd like, as well as the FOV values.

To disable/adjust weapon view bob:
----------------------------------
Within WillowGame.ini:
Search for "bWeaponBob" and you should come across the following lines:

bWeaponBob=TRUE
Bob=0.005

They should be pretty self explanatory. I can confirm the Bob numerical adjustment does work.

To enable VSync:
-----------------
Within WillowEngine.ini:
Search for "UseVsync" and you should come across the following line:

UseVsync=False

Change to TRUE.

To disable voice chat:
---------------------
Within WillowEngine.ini:
Search for "bHasVoiceEnabled" and you should come across the following line:

bHasVoiceEnabled=True

Change to FALSE.

To enable console:
------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:
Search for "ConsoleKey" and you should come across the following line:

ConsoleKey=

Add 'Tilde' after the equal sign to enable the console (should look like ConsoleKey=Tilde)

To disable mouse smoothing:
----------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:
Search for "bEnableMouseSmoothing" and you should come across the following line:

bEnableMouseSmoothing=True

Change to FALSE. Should improve the feel of the mouse when looking around and navigating the UI.

Enable Drop Weapon Key:
-------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:
Search for "WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput". Within that section, search for "ThrowWeapon". By default, it's bound to "Underscore" - I changed mine to V, so it looks like:

Bindings=(Name="V",Command="ThrowWeapon",Control=F alse,Shift=False,Alt=False)

To make zoom a toggle:
--------------------------------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini:

Put the text below under [WillowGame.WillowPlayerInput]

Bindings=(Name="ZoomIn",Command="StartAltFire | setbind ThumbMouseButton zoomout",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,LeftT rigger=False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False, bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)
Bindings=(Name="ZoomOut",Command="StopAltFire | setbind ThumbMouseButton zoomin",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,LeftTr igger=False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,b IgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)
Bindings=(Name="ThumbMouseButton",Command="zoomout ",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,LeftTrig ger= False,RightTrigger=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnore Shift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

To enable scroll wheel in text boxes:
-----------------------------------
Within WillowInput.ini

Search for all instances of the following (there should only be two instances):

InputKeyName="MouseScrollUp",ModifierKeyFlags=42
InputKeyName="MouseScrollDown",ModifierKeyFlags=42

remove the ",ModifierKeyFlags=42" so they look like:

InputKeyName="MouseScrollUp"
InputKeyName="MouseScrollDown"

hopefully they cant play it online, which will be the major part of the game for most. Im sure single player will be okay but all games come alive if played with mates, a few beers and blame via Ventrilo. :D
