Dell ST2410 24" or Samsung SM2433BW 24"?

Even though I want to say the Dell; the Samsung Syncmasters are pretty awesome; I got the SM2333HD (Monitor with Digital TV Tuner built-in) and the picture quality is amazing and is brilliant on the Xbox360 as well.
In this example the 2433BW has a greater resolution than the ST2410 which instantly gives it more perks.
However as much as I do not wish to send sales away from OcUK; the Dell can be bought roughly £45 cheaper elsewhere (check this thread) and the money difference then means the ST2410 is gaining grounds.
I do believe that the SyncMaster doesn't come with a HDMI port or HDCP which could cause issues further down the line. Also, the 2433BW is a TN panel, and a bloody expensive one in which many reviewers have expressed their disappointment with the picture quality as for only a few £ more you can be looking at PVA/MVA panels which are far superior.
Overall the Dell wins for me and I would advise as such to buy it over the Samsung, however it is entirely your decision. :D

Thanks for the post. £150 does sound too good to be true. Can't really ignore it at that price.

so, would that dell be a good upgrade from a 206bw 20" samsung monitor?

I would have thought so; they're both TN panels but the Dell has a higher res than the 20" you're using. I would say it's only worth spending money on a new monitor if something is broken, but that's because I'm broke at the moment :)

Bought the Dell from their website. Price went up to £159.

Delivery date says 13/01/2010... are they usually this slow with delivery?

I have had a Syncmaster 2493HM for a while now. Very nice monitor, also they have more height than most other 24" screens so you get an aspect ratio of 16:10 rather than the more common 16:9

If anyone likes the Samsung I know of a 3 month old one from a reputable PC forum at £165 ONO...

I was Googling for dimensions out of curiosity and this thread was like the 5th result :D

Ok, well it finally arrived! And man, is it big. Better colours than my old AMW screen, Half Life 2 looks brilliant, as did the 1080p trailer for Clash of the Titans. Here it is on the desk:

If you have any questions, please ask. I'm very happy with how cheap this was for the quality.

All set up.

Initial impression... its big!
second impression...games look waaaay better that my samsung!
third impression... I want another one now. :D

I've still to mess around with the settings but I am very pleased with the monitor considering it was only £150!

pics to follow.

It is just pc use you're using it for? (ie not ps3/xbox360 etc?)
