Need for Speed Shift - Time Trial Championship ** Season 3 ** (Multiplatform)

Now there's a backhanded compliment if ever I saw one. :D

But seriously, cheers mate, I'll try and post a video of how I'm running the course. Here's some tips though of the way I'm doing it. As you come out of the tunnel, DON'T brake. You have to momentarily (VERY momentarily) come off the gas and steer HARD right slightly earlier than you might expect to at the precise moment the line turns red, then get back on the gas immediately and up over onto the bridge. THAT has made all the difference for me. If you're at 0:30 seconds as you're heading towards the bridge after exiting that tunnel, you've a good chance of making sub 52 seconds. Also, run the tunnel as quick and far as you can steering hard right, changing down from 5th to 4th while still moving, don't bother to brake. You'll undoubtedly hit the left wall as I do, but that's ok. But foot off the gas when you do or the car will continue to hug the wall and slow you down. If you take your foot off once it hits, you can hit the gas immediately after in 4th gear and you'll be moving very quickly again and coming out of the tunnel at about 0:29 secs.

Also, at the very start of the lap, don't brake as it turns sharp left just after the chequered marking on the ground. you can either stay in 5th or what I always do is change down to 4th gear to hold the car without needing to brake. Then veer fairly hard right to keep with the racing line and keeping the momentum.

The start of the lap I can get right almost everytime, it's the turn before the 2nd tunnel shall we say coming up the hill as you say I should just veer off the gas and this should help but I keep braking just a tad. The only place I have been to just go down a gear and not break is after the tunnel. I just simply go from 5th to 4th and just hug the right as much as possible and I can be over the fly over in around 33secs.

But very good tips mate. thanks :D

Clearly I was feeling the pressure :D

CK61938, I'm uploading a one lap vid for you. Interestingly, I managed 100th of a second faster than my previous best, but this time on the first lap! However, it's messier than I normally do it, one or two more wall hits than I explained. But still, it worked in my favour, lol. It's a shame I crashed after the first lap, because had I kept going, I might have gone closer to inam's time. But that's the difficulty with this game, keeping consistency, lol.

Give me 40 mins or so for the vid to be ready.

That's precisely my point. And here is what I got in my first lap after the last one:

Notice how messed up the car is, like you I was constantly crashing after the first lap :D Looking forward to the vid :)

CK61938, here's my video. I've stitched the 4th lap of one attempt (00:52.351) to show me driving a bit tidier more like I normally do and as detailed above, followed by the 1st lap of another attempt (00:51.930) driving more zytok style. :D Check the right turn from exiting the tunnel towards the bridge in the faster lap, it comes off slightly faster and smoother than in the slower lap.

So, 100th less.

bit faster again

Now I see what you mean Merlin5. You pretty much go into the tunnel full throttle try to avoid the wall but it's hard to do that drop to 4th then quickly get back to 5th to keep the momentum...that's where I am losing the seconds I guess :D everything else I can do no problem...cheers mate :)

Heh, well, I found that braking in the tunnel and not hitting the wall hasn't as yet helped my laptime (plus I can't consistently not hit the wall each lap even when braking, I find that bit very hard) which is why I now just do it zytok style. I suppose there is a way to do it 'properly' and I would imagine inam is doing the tunnel cleaner than me and no doubt that's why his time is lower than everyone elses. I'm still experimenting and today's runs I'm going to brake lightly and try and not hit the wall and see if I can improve things further. :)

My time is with thanks to Merlin. I was taking the tunnel in 3rd. Tried 4th & improved my time. Like you say Merlin, in 4th it's very hard to avoid contact with the wall consistently. In 3rd I rarely hit the wall.
My best times seem to come in the first or second lap.
My Sector 1 time is around the 13.7 mark Merlin. From your vid you're around the 14 mark. You could make up a couple of tenths there. Like you I approach the first corner in 5th dropping to 4th. I stay in 4th until I clear the second corner, only changing upto 5th when I'm maxing 4th.
Sometimes if I've taken the first corner perfectly I can change upto 5th just before negotiating the second corner. This gives excellent drive down the straight getting 4 red lights on the change gear indicator before the braking point for the 3rd corner.

I'm delighted I could finally help you nikaz, since you've always helped me. :)

Yeah, today I was getting about 13.something on a second or third lap on sector 1 but obviously there were later discrepancies in my driving in the same lap preventing me from getting closer to the 50's.

You might find this video interesting. Although it's someone in a different car, (he gets 51.705 but I don't know if that car is generally slower or faster than the aston martin?), at just after 7 seconds in the first tunnel, he appears to intentionally veer left from the line, steering towards the banking and then turning in to the right but without braking. I'm wondering if that could improve laptimes instead of braking there and keeping strictly to the line instead of veering left. I've tried it and it's very difficult to do, you have to really time when to start to turning in, but, worth a try?

That's the insanely fast Corvette Z06. It's not so much whether the car is faster, it's more to do with the fact you can tune the car for the track. I'm sure if we could tune the Aston we'd be hitting 50's 49's no prob. IMO using the Z06 we'd be hitting around the 47 mark, maybe lower.

I suspect he's running high downforce & low gearing, probably running stiffer suspension as well.

Very true nikaz.

Well, I'm catching up with mercyless. Would be nice to get 3rd place, but dunno if I can do it. :p
