Yes but that's rooted with LPQ kernel IIRC, just flash LP7 kernel from Chainfire's thread using CWM app :)
 
Im using LP7 (same setup as mrk I think) and have no problems, but will install LiteningRom 2.4 (LP3) tomorrow. Only cos its newer which isn't always the best thing to do.
 
I don't think it's better than root explorer tbh at strict root functions, ES is better at many other things though. I use them both exclusively. Root Explorer for when I'm changing system files and setting permissions, ES for managing files on the phone and transferring over network/ftp etc.
 
I want to install Wanam's stock lp3 and then flash verts domination theme. Apparently the only hitch is that you need to then copy a couple of apk's from the ROM zip to system/app using root explorer. Dont really want to buy it for that one thing.

You can do that with ES. Root Explorer is probably better for root functions, but I've never needed it. You can still edit / move and set permissions to root files with ES. You can probably do more with Root Explorer but I don't know what :p
 
As much as I don't want to be back in the GS2 thread, my brother picked a new one up earlier on and I suggested to him to flash it and root it with a custom ROM.

What's the one to go for at the moment then?

Stock ROM. You'll only find problems with the custom ROMS :p

Honestly, I persuaded him so much not to get a GS2 beforehand, the Xperia S looked sexy. I have a 4S and I love it. :)

He's not one for finding problems like me, he just wants suggestions. I suspect he'll make a forum account here soon anyway to get direct input. :)

SensatioN ROM 3.0 ICS (looks fairly interesting too might try this one day!)

There is probably more but that is off the top of my head that are fairly popular.
