The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Erm I think you're forgetting to realise just how robust and powerful Gmail's contacts system is. you create a label for phone contacts, bung all phone contacts in there and then only display phone contacts in your phone's contacts app when it syncs with Gmail.

One of the greatest assets to Android compared to any other platform is how you can sync things like this with your Google account and combine exactly what you want.

Contacts, document and photo management is extremely powerful when they're in sync and you can manage them via desktop easily and quickly.

I know I can do this, I just wanted to know if anyone used an app to do it and if so could I have any recommendations :)

I installed CM7 but it kept making the phone die so after reading this thread I went for Swedish Snow RLS7 with the TFT package, as Mr Pigfish said my device was Gen1.
However I cannot get the "Press and hold VOLUME UP and MENU keys while you power on" to work, it just passes and boots into CM7.

In frustration I've resorted to Swedish Spring RLS5 to get my phone working again.
If you try Swedish Snow RLS7 and get it working please let me known how you did it :)

It has AGPS, which is the same as GPS but with faster lock-on times. I'm not sure why you think this makes a difference, but in reality they both do the job accurately.

None, all phones features work fully in the standard 2.1 ROM and with the unofficial 2.2 ROMs.

You can delete the Orange stuff off the default ROM, but it is not the easiest thing to do if you are not technically minded. There are guides over on the modaco forums that will help you do this.

It's not something I've tried myself, but there seems to be mixed results from what I have read on the forums.

There is some nice work on CyanogenMod 7 going ahead at the moment (still some significant issues though), and that is based off the 2.3 code. I've not seen anyone doing an AOSP 2.3 build yet.

No idea.

This is a seriously late Thank you (SORRY), but Thank you.
I did read the post at the time, Thanks.
