**GTX 690 NOW AVAILABLE AT OcUK!!**

Gibbo are you getting the GTX 670 next week?

I think they drop on the 7th, the 670s will be of much more interest to most people - the 690 is nice to read about in reviews and such but 99% of people aren't ever going to come close to these cards. Hopefully pricing on the 670 is more reasonable but given how AMD and Nvidia are pricing in general I'm not overly optimisitic.

To be honest this card isn't worth purchasing no matter what. The pricing strategy on this card is downright DISGUSTING for the UK.

The card costs $999 over in the US, that's £614. In comparison the UK price of £880 is a whopping $1424. That's a 42% difference.

Still an awesome advance in tech! Dual core GPU, next quad-core the sky's the limit! Nice to see the tech advancing!,

Just shocked by the price tag O.o, costs about the same as a cheap second hand car

They are $999 in the US.

To get that product to the UK it is not just a straight conversion, you need to add shipping, tax and any duties or admin charges. Generally that works out at around 30% on top of that price.

As such $999 / 1.60 (exchange rate) = £625.00
£625*30% = £812.00

OcUK card is £839.99, but stock is coming later, the cards in sooner are much higher as its a simple case of practically zero supply which as always forces prices higher.

But yes the pricing is crazy, but its also a crazy product, those who can afford it and think its worth while shall buy it. Those who think its too expensive or can't afford it won't buy it. Its like I'd like a Porsche GT3 4.0 RS, but they are £180,000, that is £60,000 than when new, so crazy expensive but if I could afford I'd buy one. :)

Of course the prices will go down after time, I just went on a little rant as I'm just unhappy about the unfair pricing strategies UK residents face for the reasons you listed.

E: None the less an awesome card :). Hopefully it will bring down the prices of AMD products as I'm looking to upgrade from a 6970 to a 7970 in the future.

whats more worrying is that after charging 800-850 for a card like that, they put on one fan.

ONE FAN

Two fans at lower rpm would make it quieter, and cost them about a fiver more. Ridiculous.

Yet it only manages 56fps on Metro. So you need around £1,800 to get it past 100fps...

Strange ... the statistics on the nVidia website states it manages about 60+ FPS @ 2560x1600 w/ 4xAA/16xAF.

Apparently it runs at 43DBa on full load, which is whisper quiet as far as I am concerned. So why would they add another fan when they don't need to and compromise the awesome design?
