LiE's Diet and Training Thread

May I ask what the purpose of the speed reps + press ups is?

Pretty much as LiE said

I'm presuming here, but if you don't practice 'explosiveness' then your reps are going to be reasonably slow, if you can get that push at the bottom of the rep, it helps to shift the weight really :) So by doing some explosive sets, it should help on heavier sets.

I've always been told it's slow down, fast up so to speak. (Can anyone elaborate here?)

EDIT: Personally, I just try and be explosive on the way up of bench press...Without compromising shoulder position mind

I've never trained for explosiveness/speed, but have always associated it with 'if I train explosiveness, I can punch someone faster/harder' :D

disclaimer. only ever had one fight in my life, I'm not some **** that goes out looking for trouble, ever!

Lies :D

I've never trained specifically for it either, but that's my understanding of it I guess. Please correct me obviously, as I'd rather know the 'real' reason :)

Actually, tell a lie.

When I was on PHAT there was speed work involved in that, 6 set of 3 reps.

Pause Squats
60x8, 100x5, 120x3, 140x3, 160x2, 160x2

Goblet Squats
35x8, 35x8, 35x10, 35x10

GHRs
Set sets of unknown reps, was trying to get it right.

Pause reps were good. I think it has shown I have a little work to do at the bottom. When I find it tough the knees aren't as stable as I'd like. It's very evident on the 160kg reps.

I'll post up videos soon, HD takes long to upload ;)

OK lots of videos as I work up in weight :)
In 1080p so you can full screen and see my glutes more ;)

Here is how my goblet squat now looks. Thanks for the pointers Dom.

35kg DB.

Heh, echo above!!!

So much power, awesome lifting :)

Do not take this the wrong way, but you look completely different in the vids and you do in your pics :p

Once again, excellent lifting man
