Was it a private security guard or a representative of the police? Because that does make a difference.

It was likely that it was a PSCO that told him that he wasn't allowed to use his car as it formed part of the crime scene. The PCSO will have been told to inform the owners by the officer(s) in charge.

The OP in my opinion is only calling them a 'rentacop' because of their blatant disrespect of the situation.

To the OP: Go get your car. Disregard the PCSO's instructions. Being charged with perverting the course of justice might teach you a thing or two about having your head firmly up your own ****.

OP has already stated in post 60 that it was not a PCSO but a security guard... which makes no sense.

I'm concerned about my ability to continue leading my life. Whether i use my own car, or my flatmate's diesel fiesta (which the same rules apply to) is neither here nor there.

Say i needed to go right now to deal with a family medical emergency, what do i do in that position?

I would call 999?

either you have drugs or something in your car, or you're self-serving as everyone says. well here's what you asked for - police and criminal evidence act; you have no protection to use your car until they've searched it.

but op, learn your lesson... that you're considering fighting for the right to use your car, or even bothering the police about it at all is beyond petty. anyway it's common sense dude - someone was killed, just let the police do their jobs. you're undermining the severity of the situation, potentially the integrity of the case, and being disrespectful - of the victim, family, investigation. don't wanna be a dick but honestly you need to stop defending yourself on this one

if the place was in walking distance i wouldnt be driving, would I?

Respect doesnt come into it.

A person has been murdered, you don't care about human life, you're just annoyed that their death has minorly inconvinced you.
An inhuman human, well done, welcome to the world of the animals.

i can see in the cold light of day how i may not have covered myself in glory, but all i was after was legal information.

I've spoken to the real police officers who now seem to be manning things, and I'm not going anywhere by car for now. Alternate arrangements have been made.

Man the **** up and call a taxi, bus, friend.

It's not every day a murder happens in your street is it ?

Your life isnt over like the deceased is it !

Respect the situation and carry on with your life.

Someone is guilty
