Oh I am not complaining. I very much enjoy looking for them. The problem with the shilling beer is that I am unable to obtain it at all, unless I go online, which is against the spirit of the competition for me.

I am still hoping to enter a Shilling beer regardless of the rules having been relaxed for that week. I shall not give up! :)

Good on you Papa, and if the rules hadn't been relaxed everyone would be in the same boat. I went to the local specialist beer shop this morning, had one Shilling beer which is available in supermarkets, and only one other from a craft brewery.

The time for questioning the content for each round was before the competition started to be honest... There should only be clarification now on what counts for each round, not changes.

Oh and remember this is all about having some fun and enjoying different types of beer and cider

Well yes but I never thought that obtaining some of these beers (in particular Shilling) would be that difficult at the start.

The competition should be accessible for all who wish to partake, which I think it very much is. It is far more accessible than the last one and I am having a lot of fun looking for beers. I can see me being able to enter (though not without some difficulty) every week ,without resorting to bulk online ordering. Being able to enter something, is far better than not being able to enter anything. Even if I know it is a single pointer, I will still enter it. I mean, it's all about drinking new beers, right? :D

I agree with this. I'm also with you on about not using the internet to get beers. Ho hum!

I think it certainly helps having a local beer shop. One opened up in Manchester just before this competition started which has helped with quite a few rounds.

I've also got a Booths locally which has a good beer selection. My local tesco however isn't great.

I've missed two rounds and not used the internet once yet.

FYI - picked up my H and I this lunchtime along with another one of those Organic Chocolate Sammy Smith's stouts.

Got my H entry sorted, hopefully unique but we shall see on Sunday!

Got my I sorted but King is proving to be a pest as expected, not many of that ilk up here! Also pondering my Light/Lite entry, there's not a huge amount of light beers or at least light beers which are branded as such!

And agree with the folks above, don't approve of the internet ordering although I don't think anyones come out and said they did that this time round? Found a nice wee beer shop, bit of a hike to get to but has about 300 beers and it's good fun perusing the selection and the guys are very helpful. Support your local businesses etc! It's just 2 guys fresh out of uni who took a punt on the fact there aren't many specialist beer shops in Glasgow, apparently business is booming. Half expect to see Ahleckz in there everytime I go up though!

I know the one you're talking about, and I have indeed been in there a good few times. Good selection, and lots of interesting beers. But it's also a treck for me. :(

My local Tesco is quite good for local beers, and I've got a couple of farm shops and a Nisa local shop as well. I haven't tried Co-op yet, and Sainsbury's only have a couple of local beers, the rest appear to be national? I did pick up a King beer from there but expect it'll be common. I'll be popping to Waitrose tomorrow as well...

Stuff going to Waitrose, I've just found out I have a veritable beer emporium right under my nose! I can't believe I didn't know about it, although I now expect my wallet to be excessively battered.

Oh balls does it have to be a English king's name?

K - King = Anything King related for beer name ONLY ie. a Kings name past or present, even King on its own.

Nothing about having to be English.

just a query and to clarify are we allowed to have body part in with name or word has to be standalone?

Already been covered a few times now... the example given Cutthroat... would be allowed.

An example of what's NOT allowed would be...

If I read that right, you mean like "arm" being part of "No Harm Ale" for example?

Hope this makes sense?

EDIT: And it must relate to the beer name only... not the brewery as that won't count.
