I do cringe when people start talking about title challenging though :/

You can see why they would though, that squad on paper is good enough to challenge, gelling the players and what not aside, it's a squad of first teamers with pretty good replacements if need be.

On paper its up there with United/City and Chelsea's squads now.

Yes they blip once they start thinking above their station.... possible title challengers, CL run, UEFA cup winners, etc.

Just need to concentrate on what they really want and it will happen, no doubt about it. I do fear AVB might go all out in every cup though....

He has the squad to do it now but I don't think they are that daft, priorities are the league and maybe the Europa depending on draws etc, the problem comes that of he goes for a top 4 finish and the Europa he's going to struggle with the games.

I still think you're short up front.

Edit (Sorry about the spam :/)

...Building some squad Spurs are, they have to be favourites to nick a top 4 spot now, are they going to have the kahoonas for it?

I don't see why not, I think we've averaged 4th or 5th for the last 4 or 5 seasons now?

I mentioned yesterday that Spurs still look a bit short in attack, particularly in the wide areas. An injury to either Lamela (and who knows how he'll settle) or Soldado and their front 3 doesn't look overly impressive.

Yet we all know it's about the team.... Spurs need at the very least a full season for this team to gel.

They need to decide right now the UEFA cup isn't what they want and stop tiring players out. Blood the youngsters in the cups, have a little go at any with favourable draws, but fully focus on the Prem. 4th place minimum.

Invest again next year with top quality players and CL footy promises THEN challenge for title.

No not a striker, I'll be honest I don't know a great deal about the fella... I'm staggered we've paid £30m for a 21 year old I've not heard that much about!

He does look like a direct replacement for the positions we played Bale in last season though.

Another question sorry, why was Erikson so cheap?

I remember last summer United being linked with and AC Milan iirc and they were talking 25 million for him?

Ah, seems a bargain though, he looks a tidy player from what I've seen of him, nothing spectacular as such just a good recycler of the ball, keeps it moving and he's quite mobile.

I wouldn't have minded United going for him if truth be told, especially at that price.

I love De Rossi but De Rossi from about 4 years ago, I think his legs have gone a bit unfortunately, he's not so box to box now but he is what we need.

Just watched Christian Eriksen in a few videos on YouTube.

Looks to have 2 good feet. I reckon he could end up playing as an 'inside forward'. Seems like a low risk purchase seeing as he's only 21.

Could end up being a steal at £11m.

It certainly won't be dull at WHL this season.

Will be interested to see how many games Lamela and Eriksen start together. Would like to see them both play either side of Soldado. They can switch with each other as well. Seems like Lamela played more on the right side for Roma despite being left footed.

I wonder if Bebe and Macheda will have improved.

Macheda scored 0 in 14 games for Stuttgart on loan. They were also supposed to have an option to buy yet decided not to. If Stuttgart don't want him, he isn't ever going to be good enough for United.

It's pretty depressing to be a United fan at the moment with their total lack of imagination in the transfer market. We're slowly becoming a team devoid of flair - just a solid, workmanlike side nowadays.

It is Moyes' first year so he probably doesn't want to spend but just bring in Fellaini and Baines.
Reckon Kagawa, Nani and RvP could add some entertaining factor.

Lamela's not a striker is he?

One of my favourite football writers / journalists had him down as the replacement for Saint Balessi. He has all the potentional to be as good if mot better.

'contract innit, he was almost out of it. Same reason Manchester United picked up Kagawa cheap. Cracking players in my opinion, a bit similar I think, but hopefully Erikson can adust to life in England.

I think Tottenham have done really, really *****ng well in this transfer market to be honest, that is, on paper, but football isn't played on paper.

De Rossi was a ****ing monsterous footballer, I agree his legs are going but he was absolutely immesnse recently for Italy. I agree though, legs are slowly going and with that he loses some of his threat, he's still a monster though, like a superior suped up more angry with amazing facial hair version of Gattuso (whom I love).

Sorry for spelling, I've been out tonight.
