so whos running the FX-9590 AMD CPU?

That is no indication of his system if you check his OP or his sig etc. Stop being a moron. Besides when I first posted you were still constructing your post as it initially said:

"If you want the best performance for rts do not go amd."

Nothing underneath so you must have edited.

Again, why would that be confusing? Because amd come up trumps in like Every rts game....
Xxxx

It is not confusing. Where did you get that impression?

I would not know unless I had either owned both systems or compared them side by side. I do like a good RTS though (check my avatar)!

If anyone needs to justify themselves (according to martini) it would be the OP for wanting to change from his (crystal ball) i5 system that we still dont know he has unless 'beasty6' is your alter ego...

Well, you saying you no understand would suggest confusion.
I don't need to have owned both systems to know the facts, are you confusing facts with Co njecture?

Am I winning this game?

Edit : Damn you Sony and your keyboard .

I've bought a 9590 for a new build. Got it cheap and my current 8350 doesn't seem to want to go above 4.6 GHz anyway.

Not as powerful as Intels obviously, but still more than good enough. A little worried about the heat this CPU is going to give out though! Going to get one of those OcUK Fathom water-coolers.

Huh, just noticed something weird. On the HardwareCanucks review of the FX-9590, they have got it scoring 7.87 in Cinebench. Just ran the same version of Cinebench on my FX-8350 @ 4.6GHz and I score 7.94

Maybe something to do with Windows 8 and/or bus overclocking (mine is 220 instead of 200)

@beasty6

To stick to the actual question you asked...

The 9590 isn't really worth it because you can almost certainly get an 8350 to 4.8-5GHz, which is the same as a 9590. If you'd be happy with 4.8GHz, the 8320 even is quite likely to get there.

Can be down to bus speed\ram speed.
Tweaking is worthwhile.

yes i do have a i5 but its a first gen 1156 CPU and it needs to be upgraded as well as my 6990

Unless you upgrade to a R290X crossfire-setup (I am assuming you are going for the best), you will not run into any CPU-bottlenecks with your current CPU.

Going for that FX is a sideway upgrade, it's not any better and will cost you an extra £150 to cool properly. Hell, even the H100i is not enough to stop it from throttling under full load, the fathom is the only thing that is I heard.
