Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

Irony being your having a kneejerk reaction.

Relax... his hardware is kinda out of date which is why he has issues..... he never blamed the game ;)

LOL very true.

I want him to blame the game. Yes the hardware is tad out of date, but the main issues are the game not the hardware. Give it chance to go through some release cycles. Don't just throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Am I the only one finding BF4 exactly the same as BF3 gameplay wise?

No way, its much slower game playwise, hit damage (except sniper) is lower, takes loads of ammo to kill someone. Weapons at the moment dont give me enough feed back.

Hit Rate is better, graphics is slightly better, colour way better, eye candy better environment has great detail, UI better, comms better, load outs slower but better, end of game stats clearer and better, regional stats and locations pretty neat.

So lots of plus's...

Big negatives

Cpu code poorly optimised 90% for 3930K 4.6Ghz with lag and random crashes
gpu's at 40%-50% (cross fire) 7950's.

I have all settings set to low and couldn't work out if it was foggy or some sort of dust cloud from the tower collapsing?

Its atmospheric pollutants (concrete dust and small bits of burning smoke from smouldering paper) when Charlie gets taken down. Infact its where most lag occurs to.

Turned everything on to custom: low/off and I still get the same issue? In fact it is consistently worse... and then I had GPU failure type archifacts all over my screen and BF4 crashed.

I have been reading that apparently BF4 has been causing peoples GFX cards to overheat and die!!! Which is a bit of a shock given my gfx card is £900!!

Thats not a bad summary. Was playing with a mate on TS last night and we both agreed that the team play changes regarding waypoints to points was fantastic. The addition of TS was really nice. Was playing with some blocks from on here and one of the guys was more or less directing us to different points and it was fun to tag along.

We were at the top of the server because we were working together. I like to run and gun every now and again but this game is so much better when you have a squad working together.

I think once they sort the performance (and they will) BF4 has all the makings of a great game.

Does anyone remember how bad metro was when you could clip under the bomb site and kill people without them being about to see you and the 3D spotting being OP? BF4 is so much more stable by comparison.

Still not got the 'beta' in Origin even though I had an email on Wed telling me to download it ?:(

Edit, found it in the store - email lies :)

Fozzy what spec you running system wise ?

Stop talking rubbish. There are performance issues with the BF4 beta build which DICE have acknowledged and are in the process of fixing.

I get so frustrated by all these knee jerk reaction people.

but why release a beta that has known performance issues, how is that going to encourage people to buy the game ?

the age old "it's a beta, it will be sorted for the final release" is something they've used time and time again, a bit of tweaking to get a final release is fair enough, server testing etc, but some of there issues just seem to point to lazy/no real testing, not it being a beta.

and if memory serves, some of there other "we'll fix it for final release" promises haven't been realised until after release with patches, so they can't really be trusted to much, think holding off on buying the game to see what the final release is like, if money is tight, is the better thing to do.

...

FX6300, 2GB 7850, 8gb RAM, Windows 8.1 Preview.

As I said in the other thread, I reverted to the 13.9 driver rather than the Beta and everything runs better. I'll be fine in the end even if it means turning down the settings a touch more.

Just had my first CTD after about 2-3 hours.

Shame as I was owning people with the boat! BEAST! Took out a transport heli that was full :D

Very impressed with this tbh.

Damage is definitely higher for me dmferret!

The whole point of a beta is to test everything, server side too. For the majority I bet performance is acceptable.

Anyone who doesn't buy a game based on playing the 'beta' needs to understand what beta actually means.
