I'm sure they're avoiding this because it takes a Titan Black to best a 280X/7970/D700
I feel that business wise NVIDIA are being silly handicapping their OpenCL performance to try and push CUDA. :/
AMD being the main OpenCL Developer / Proprietor have been very lack lustre in pushing OpenCL forward in past years, while Nvidia did push hard with CUDA (which is OpenCL in another way but locked to Nvidia)
Now AMD are giving it the attention it needs and deserves, with huge success.
There is now an extensive list of OpenCL Software compatibility.
Adobe
Autodesk
Blender
Libra
RED REDCINE-X PRO
Magix
ArcSoft
DaVinci
Roxio
Apple Final Cut
To name the ones i know off the top of my head, there are plenty more.
'Heterogeneous System Architecture' is also a fantastic AMD innovation and requires OpenCL.
Basically AMD are now pushing OpenCL, and pushing it hard.
And the industry is taking notice.
Apple are a casing point, but they aren't just doing it for AMD + OpenCL, the GCN architecture actually turns out to be very good for Workstations in what can be done with it.
IMO Nvidia's CUDA Proprietary nature is becoming dated, Open Source is the way forward now that it has the attention it needs.
