Cheers, not far behind Matt.

Could you edit your post to remove my quoted text? I've edited mine, and don't want to cause any confusion.

Pretty much only when it comes to getting a few more unnoticeable fps on a benchmark score :)

Look at my Thief score. 5960X min fps higher than 2600k average fps.

Alien is a very well optimised game, not the best to judge increases. All I'm doing is going through benches I did before so I can show any improvements.

Granted people aren't going to go out and buy a 5960X but if I can how that there are decent gains to be had moving away from a 2600k or similar then that's what I think users will be interested in.

Not forgetting I am a niche user, ie, having Crossfire.

Yeah, I'm not saying that there's no benefit whatsoever :)
I do wonder what's going on with your Thief comparison scores though.
A 5960x is obviously superior, but that kind of difference seems a bit odd to me. I don't have the game or know much about it and it's quirks though.

Oh, and I'll be ditching my 2600K for Matt's 3970x/mobo/ram tomorrow anyway, so I'm certainly not against upgrading one, although she's served me very well.
Be interesting to see first hand what happens with certain titles with multiple cards in comparison.

Nice scores Skip. I will rerun it next week when i get a chance. Not sure i'll beat my previous scores as this bench seems like to a high Ghz speed on the cpu, but we'll see.
