Anyone Using an Asus DSL-AC68U

Needs a full hard reset if values do not clear.
1)With the Asus switched on, press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
2)Without releasing the reset button, unplug the Asus (pull the power cable from the back) and carry on holding reset for another 30 seconds
3)Plug the Asus back in STILL holding the reset button a final 30 seconds
4)Release the reset button.

Its best if you do the above steps BEFOORE AND AFTER any upgrading if you have any issues with firmwares.

If the Asus enters recovery mode then press the reset button again with it powered on then release the rest button. Power the device off and back on.

Following the above is not normally needed but that will ensure ALL prior settings are erased and anything in the Asus RAM or any modem for that matter is completely cleared. Yes a right load of messing around but without fail works everytime.

I've just tested the latest firmware, done the full reset as is required. Set it up with the same settings as before and now lost a further 4Mb. I'm leaving it on over night then away to start testing another device.
It does produce more errors than other devices but at least it is stable enough. Just had 12 days uptime.

I take that back about it being stable. It seems that from the beginning of the month (When I swapped to the Asus modem) my line is slowly losing speed. It has gone from a 74Mb profile down to a 66Mb profile. It appears that it went from 74 to 68 to 67 now 66.

Ah well. Can't say we haven't tried.

I cannot believe that anyone still puts any trust in getting this to work the way it should. Despite all the hard, genuine work of many here I wouldn't trust it as a modem any further than I could throw it.
Asus, major fail...

My Asus is going up for sale. I've got my speed back with the Netgear D7000 and wireless coverage betters the Asus so I'm chuffed. Keeps me away from that pesky DLM!!

There is nothing wrong with this router.

some lines are fine with it and some are not shorter / longer
also some have different hardware in there cabs.

cant please everyone but those of use that know our lines can see how great this product is, and some well cant .....

i will be selling mine when the next best thing comes out though as i like being up to date with hardware and im not maker specific and choose what i like, if its better i will use it.

I would say it is stable but could still be better.

I'm sure the majority of lines in the UK aren't perfect so some may struggle with this unit.

That's a bit if a daft comment saying people that know their lines can see it being a great product. Maybe some people need to realise each line is different and this modem isn't great at inferior lines.

At least I've now found one that works well with my line. This one didn't agree unfortunately as I really like the Asus GUI.

I have been around a bit longer with this product and I assure you it is the device and diddly squat to do with my lines. The modem side has never worked the way it should and, with the previous two firmware updates, they managed to break the connection to a usb drive. I can no longer trust what is a flawed product and too many owners have hadthe same issues, but none with other manufacturers products.

There is 100% something wrong with the ASUS lol. If there wasn't why is there so many complaints about the device and endless firmware updates from ASUS trying to "fix" something.

Even the shoddy HH5 doesn't throw up the amount of errors the ASUS does.

I too have to say there is something seriously wrong with the modem on the Asus, the router side of it is great, but no amount of firmware updates are ever going to resolve the modem.

It could be the firmware, it could be the Chipset, but moving over to the Netgear D7000 has highlighted the differences between the two devices.

Those that have been able to make the Asus work then stick with it, but for everyone else it may be time to move on.

100% there is an issue with the modem - hence 89 pages on this thread! Mine went back a while ago but on my line with an OR modem I get close to the 40/10 maximum. The Homehub 5 I tried for a while was "OK" but not as good as the OR modem. The Asus was awful....although it ran AOK of I disabled the modem and ran it through the OR modem.

There are obviosly some users who get good results, and good luck to them. Also fair play to those sticking with it through the problems, but there are 2500+ posts on this thread and most are to do with problems.......enough said.

Anyone tried the TP-Link Archer vr900 yet, OC has it listed in stock @£300 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=nw-167-tp&groupid=46&catid=1595 seems rather expensive considering amazon has pre order price of £128 http://www.amazon.co.uk/tp-link-archer-vr900-beamforming-technology/dp/b01132gcp0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=utf8&qid=1438160682&sr=8-1&keywords=tp-link+archer+vr900

been trying to find info on which chipset it uses, appears to be broadcom from amazon info and tp-links site says powerful dual core broadcom cpu, but cant find any details on which xdsl modem it has.

hopefully once it is released reviews will pop up and exact info will be revealed.

they also now have an ac1900 router with built in touch screen http://uk.tp-link.com/products/details/cat-9_Touch-P5.html

Long story (which I won't go into) - I have suddenly got a message appearing on the GUI stating:

"Your DSL line appears to be unstable. DLA (Dynamic Line Adjustment) which enabled by default already adopted necessary changes and ensure stability. However if interruption continues please submit a feedback form for our analysis."

I've not done anything that it suggests and my line seems ok.

Suggestions?

Rick.

The one selling here is AC1900 the one on the rainforest is AC1200.
I think the other TP-Link modem/routers use lantiq chipsets for the modem so it may be used again.
