Just took some screenshots of resolutions at 2560x1080 and 1920x1080. This confirms that 21:9 is broken or not supported as it just upscales 1080p and chops the top and bottom off.

Notice how the smaller res gives you the same field of view sideways but just tops the top and bottom off, hence the "larger" gun models in the 21:9 shot.

Think I was in your squad last night for a bit, that was until my SSD decided to pack up :(

Enjoying it a lot so far, looks great and when you get a good squad it plays very similar to PR, perhaps a little more dynamic because of the more fluid movement.

Feels a bit like rockets/M320's might be infinite at the minute? Lots of rocket spam!

Looking forward to the advanced medic abilities too.
 
Not quite a game breaking bug but it's been noted and brought up a few times!

Yeah I can understand it's not a HUGE issue. Just wanted to provide enough evidence of the exact problem so you didn't need to test or try and understand my ramblings :D.

It's playable, just annoying really. Again, feels like I'm looking through a letterbox lol. Had a blast this weekend on it though, when people work together it's so good.
 
It certainly is PR. Run & gun style gameplay. :D

It's going to have that "run & gun" feel for a while until all the main features get implemented.

There's some big changes coming that will stop this, don't you worry.
 
I look forward to seeing them. PR was never my thing really.

Haven’t played games in like seven or eight years. Still rocking a Nov 2004 Build PC got ready for BF2 at the time. To be honest PR of BF2 was the last game I played. Played it to death till the old girl PC started showing her age about 2007-8 and started blue screening etc when pushed. So gave up on the games and it's still going strong. ( touch wood) New rig later this year to play namely Elite (I played the original) But I loved going from BF2 Vanilla to PR BF2 it was like a new game, so harsh but yet rewarding. Flying the helicopters was a skill and some of the maps amazing. Guns killed and I mean killed so coming from vanilla BF2 that you could hit a guy with a full Clip only for him to turn and shoot back. Cover fire worked as players took notice a hit was going to mess you right up. Witnessed such great squad play, nothing like landing in a little bird for your guys to jump out and take a building. GL on this and keep faithful to the PR ethos of harsh unforgiving game play if you play like Rambo…
 
What's happening with the pre-alpha test, is it still open? Had to re-install everything after a SSD boot drive failure. Of course had to happen that weekend didn't it :(

Pretty sure it is just at the weekends at the moment with the possibility to move to full time but that depends. Didn't you play at all? I'm sure I played with you at some point Sunday night.

Yeah you were my squad leader on Saturday night I am sure, as my ssd went when I was playing. Locked up the pc and just died...

Took me until Sunday night late to get things back to normal on pc.

Week 2 Closed Pre Alpha, Angle of Attack

For Ranger, Commander and Airborne backers, Closed Pre Alpha (CPA) access is scheduled to open on Saturday the 1st of August, at
  • 6AM GMT
  • 7AM London
  • 8AM Berlin
  • 1AM New York
  • 10PM Los Angeles (Friday night)
  • 4PM Sydney
The test session will run for ~72 hours until Tuesday 4th of August, 6AM GMT.

We're angling ideas on how we attack coding and implementing various game mechanics, some of which are being tested on the fly as we're getting to variations we want to see in the wild. Should see the Devs online with you more this weekend, expect them to be better rested and on point. If we all picked up a thing or two last week, we hoping to see coherent squad based gameplay pick up a notch or two as people get more acclimated to the game.

The download will be available on Friday on the prealpha.joinsquad.com portal after you log into your account.

Changelog - (Version TBA)
  • Fixed tracers looking too small
  • Fixed the server losing track of the admins after a map switch
  • Fixed a rare server crash when player without a valid login session joins a server
  • Player scores are now updated. Score additions related to kills are only shown after the player dies
  • Fixed ping being added together for the team and squad in the scoreboard.

  • Added Un-Cappable flags with a unique icon.
  • Added a new flag capture widget for new flags.
  • Players can no longer join teams if it would make the team unbalanced
  • Character movement has been updated to have more weight and momentum
  • Added Kohat Sunrise, a new AAS Map set in a unique part of Kohat
  • Added Kohat Conquest, an experimental Conquest map
  • Added an Ironsights M4 Rifleman Kit Role for the US Army.
  • Slightly tweaked bone damage modifiers. Weapons should perform a little better now
  • Smoke Grenade effect starts quicker
  • Updated tree LODs to decrease the popping on midrange systems
  • Removed the sidearm from some kits that shouldn't have it (eg: US LAT)
  • Updated the medic icon to not fall off the screen when healing
  • Added an indication for how much health a player has when healing
  • Grenades are now resupplied from the ammo box

Distribution
We have now distributed every key. Check the email account associated with your Kickstarter or Paypal account, whichever you used to pledge to Squad during the Kickstarter campaign. Contact us at support at joinsquad dot com is you have not yet received your key

Capacity
We will have plenty of servers available around the world, we'll have more servers on standby to boot within 10 minutes if existing servers are filled, and we're actively looking for ingame admins to help us maintain some semblance of order. Everyone in game will have spent serious time and money to get to this point, we have prepared ourselves and are preparing admin teams for dealing with the stampede to get online.

It is at this time we ask for people to step up and help us help and the community, by volunteering to be ingame moderators to maintain healthy gameplay experiences for our CPA.

Here's the lowdown:
  • Login at prealpha.joinsquad.com and in game is case sensitive for username and password.

Recording and Streaming Gameplay
Act like a decent human being and everyone can record and stream as they see fit. We believe in the power of the people, we fully expect you guys to record, stream, screenshot and write about your gaming experiences with us. The good and the bad, we'll take it as it comes. Please do report problems in our feedback form so we can tackle the bad before we leave CPA.

However...
Among many reasons for termination of your access to Squad IP, overt antisocial ingame activity for purpose of dissemination and/or distribution of video/audio/still images/written recollections of Offworld Industries video game Squad will result in immediate and permanent banning of your key and SteamID.
If said video/audio/still images/written recollections are found online and can be associated to an account on our systems, Offworld Industries at it's sole discretion can and will ban keys and SteamIDs.

Post your streams/youtube videos so we can all find them.

Antisocial Activity
Offworld Industries is aware that we all have off days. It's the nature of the beast when playing shooter games. We will take that into account when dealing with singular instances of disruptive behavior. That being said, we have a persistent reporting system attached to your SteamID, enough reports of disruptive behavior will result in bans of various lengths, up to and including permanently banning your key and SteamID.
Be cool, and we're cool.

Troubleshooting
When installing a few problems can occur, here are remedies:
  1. Login at prealpha.joinsquad.com and in game is case sensitive for username and password.
  2. Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013
  3. directx_Jun2010_redist.exe
  4. Chrome will detect the .zip file as a false positive, click the arrow then select "Keep"
  5. Unzip the game in a directory not UAC protected, so NOT in C:\Program Files
  6. Config files, logs and screenshots will be saved in C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Squad
  7. Make sure to allow firewall and antivirus access to the Squad.exe
  8. Some older routers require you to allow UDP port 7777 through
  9. Not all resolutions are showing up in the Video options
    • in game, type tilde ` to bring up console , type in as examples:
    • r.setres 1680x1050w
    • r.setres 2560x1440f

    • f = fullscreen
    • w= windowed
    • b = borderless
  10. Only your default Windows Audio Input device will be selected as your Mic
  11. Mouse sensitivity is not always permanently saved when the game is restarted. please be aware. (this might be fixed before next weekend)

Watch out they are multiplying!

Just wanted to share something that I have been working on while I have been performing my other duties.

Expanding our Kalashnikov collection, to the benefit of both the Russian faction and the irregular forces, such as our insurgent faction.

I still have 3 more versions to do before I wrap this up and start preparing them for texturing and in game use, and that is the RPK part of the family.

I will be remaking the 7.62 RPK that we currently have in game as well as introducing the RPK-74 and RPK-74M as a part of this.

All of these will behave differently, in terms of recoil and sway patterns, damage (different muzzle velocities) and some will be limited to certain kits, but you will find when the time comes...

Keep in mind that they are all work in progress.

My friend has ordered squad and got given two keys. He has registered his key and it all works fine. He then emailed me containing the second key but for some reason the key show up as "MERGE" (or something like that). Which means i cant get the key or do anything so i can play.

I only ask you here as my friend has tried emailing support but he hasnt got anywhere with them, anything you can do. No worries if not, though i wouldask.
