Anyone flashed their bios with Windows 10 yet?
Tomorrow (hopefully) I'll be purchasing a few parts for a tasty new build. 5930K or 5960X, Asus X99 Deluxe, and SLI 980 Tis.
I'm certainly going for reference cards. My question however, are there any hardware differences at all between the various reference 980Tis? Any use superior rated capacitors, VRMs, etc? The Zotac reference card looks to be a great deal, provided that it matches in terms of component quality to any other reference card and their warranty service is good.
I'm not too fussed about voltage restrictions as I can simply flash the BIOS of another reference card if need be.
Another quick question aimed at those with a Super Flower Leadex Platinum 850W or EVGA SuperNOVA P2 850W (same unit), how quiet are these under load? I've not found solid data for this unit exactly but the impression I get is that they are very quiet indeed.

I'd personally get a 1kW PSU with x99 and SLI 980Tis.

Immediately after I posted I changed my plans and decided a 1kW would be the better choiceI'd personally get a 1kW PSU with x99 and SLI 980Tis.

My question was regarding reference cards only, with non-reference we can almost guarantee that it will be custom beyond the cooler!

There is absolutely no difference hence the reference design. This means all parts and components must adhere to Nvidia specs. So you pick the one you prefer the warranty terms on given the price. What most people will do I would think.

There's actually an evga hybrid currently in stock. Pretty sure thats the first time i've seen them listed as in stock and not a preorder.
4 this morning, all went by dinner. Seems people can't get enough of them.
This monster arrived at home today:
I went for the Zoltac AMP Extreme mainly due to the high default OC, large cooler, and the 5 year warranty, plus I believe they have UK RMA.
It is unbelievably huge, and barely fit in my case. (Coolermaster CM 690 III) - I've only got about 5mm clearance at the end of the card.
Initially I thought it wasn't going to fit and I'd have to send it back, but here's a lip on the drive enclosure at the end of the case which the clearances trickier. A bit of jiggling around and the card fit - just, though I've since noticed the drive enclosure is removable so that would have made it easier to fit.
The good news is it's noticeably faster out of the box than the Gigabyte G1 it replaced - 16362 in 3D Mark Fire Strike vs 15621.
It also runs much cooler. The max temp I've seen under load is 72 degrees, while the G1 would go well over 80. It's pretty quiet too and less noticeable under load than the G1.
I did get a bit of coil whine in the Witcher 3 menus with Vsync off (when the game runs at over 3000fps!), but nowhere near as bad as the G1, and there's no coil whine at all in normal gaming, even at high frame rates. The G1 had audible coil whine in all games.
So from first impressions this one looks like a keeper!
Edit: I've just checked the ASIC quality and it's 81.4%, which should mean I've got plenty of room for overclocking in future, though the default OC is plenty fast enough for now.

Ok well I got my HOF ln2 fitted which was a pretty tight squeeze and a bit of a headache.
The asic is a relatively low 70.7 which I was expecting given it's stated use, I hope to get a water block on it in the near future but with a baby on the way soon and how much my new rig has cost it was not practical at the moment.
In regards to power this beast requires 3 8-pin inputs and when the button on the back is pressed the house lights dim .
Not overclocked it yet as still working on getting the maximum stable cpu overclock I can.
Buy I have to say that it flys at stock/boost speeds and between this and a 4k gsync monitor games never looked so good in particular witcher 3 and elite dangerous.
Will be looking to overclocker it as soon as I can though and will be applying a new bios as it would be criminal not to on this card.

Playing the Witcher 3 at 4K just now, as it's very very muggy here and no wind blowing in I was hitting 83 degrees. At that point I shut the game off due to worry. Was it OK at that temp? Using the default fan profile btw, no idea what would be good. I guess lowering the res to 1440p would help.. or no?

83c is in theory fine for a NVidia card, but it should not be hitting 83c on a custom cooler to be honest.

Yes its fine, the core will throttle if it gets too hot, it is fine really up to 90C
2 intake, 2 exhaust (top and rear) I don't know great fans or pressure etc I'm using 2 that came with the case and two I bought ages ago.
I'll probably swapp all the fans for Noctua at some point. Fans had a clean only a month or so ago.
