The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

What games? 99% of current games I play run with SLI just fine.

If your fed up with SLI, I'd sell both your Ti's and just go with a nice GTX 1080.

Any game using the Unity engine for example. I'm shying away from shooter games and more into strategy games. so games like Stellaris and games like that do not require the power of two 980 Ti's

I'd just sell both and get an AIB 1070 or AIB 1080. Should be vastly quieter and cooler than REF cards in SLI for sure.

I'd be more tempted to get a 1080 for the extra grunt over a single 980Ti though, will come in handy for future games. Up to you if you would rather pocket a little.

My MSI 1070 is on it's way, should arrive tomorrow! Very excited. I had been waiting for the EVGA one but got bored of waiting for stock as the ETA keeps changing (was 1st July). Paid a bit more for the MSI instead but it's a slightly better clock and cooler anyway.

MSI gaming X or AMP extreme guys?

Ive just built my first system:

i5 6600k
Evo 212 cooler
16gb Ram
MSI Motherboard
Mid ITX case

Hoping to run VR towards the end of the year.

Unfortunately i have a freesync monitor but the 480 doesnt look as futureproof as a 1070.

I'd take the Gaming X, personally (and I did). It runs incredibly cool and quiet without needing a really massive cooler like the Amp Extreme. I'd imagine those three smaller fans are going to put out more noise than the two on the Gaming X, which never get above ~1000RPM (and temperatures don't go above 70 despite that). Of course, not everybody is as sensitive to noise as I am. The slimmer form factor does also make SLI a more practical possibility in the future though.

I'd go AMP Extreme in my opinion. Should be the better quality/clocking card. Built like a tank and top quality. Better and longer warranty from Zotac as well.

But it's up to you, the MSI is still a great cool and quiet card from experience with the 980Ti version. Whatever suits your taste and build.

I wouldn't put clocks among pro and cons of a card, they'll all end up between 2000 and 2100Mhz, which makes essentially zero difference in games.

I would think about noise and price - Palit and Inno3D X3/X4 have better value if you're not concerned with warranty (Palit also uses binned chips @409£).

Got my EVGA 1070 SC today and all in all I could be happier, mostly with it's overclocking ability. The card is running quietly enough and temps seem to be staying in the 70s under load but the card just won't go over 2Ghz and extra voltage makes zero difference. Given that I didn't think the 1070s were that great value anyway I'm pretty disappointed to be getting one of the worst overclocking cards I have seen. I'll probably stick with it for a few days but I expect i'll be sending it back.

As a side note - I've also found EVGA precision xoc to be total garbage. I find it often fails to apply any settings to the card, it frequently locks up and the autooc feature simply doesn't work, so quickly reverted back to afterburner.

The average is what, 2050 of actual stable clock in gaming?

I understand you'd like to see at least that for peace of mind, but it's just a perception issue, 2k or 2,1k makes no difference in games.
That said 450£ for that model is way too much.

im thinking of replacing my 980ti for a 1070.

silly to do so???
I wouldn't bother if it was me. The performance is basically identical, so all you'd really be getting is an extra 2GB VRAM and around 100W less power consumption under full load. Doesn't seem worth it, especially with 1070 prices so high at the moment.

Got my MSI 1070 X on Friday.

Even maxed out at 2050 mhz I still can't hear it over the fans in my FT02.

Got this today: Palit GTX 1070 GameRock Premier Edition :D

To say I'm impressed would be an understatement. Temps are very good too, it hasn't been above 71C at 45% fan speed, even with my sound card about 3mm from one of the fans.

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your GTX 1070.

Don't forget to use spoiler tags for images wider than 1280 pixels.:)

Not sure if my score of about 14,250 is any good looking at the above two results.

My cpu is at 4.5 and my GPU at stock (around 1936mhz)
