Yes.

Anyway two weeks in with the GameRock Premium, still happy with it - it was the only manufacturer I never bought from (although I had Gainward). To be fair the 1070 is so efficient most cards will be pretty awesome.

That said which games do you see pushing the envelope in the near future? Battlefield 1 doesn't look that good and anyway I expect a "light" engine as usual. We're pretty much stuck at The Witcher 3 as far as graphics goes (along with RoTR).

I have a question:

Is the whole GDDR5X thing on the 1080 a big deal or just a gimmick without any tangible benefit for the foreseeable future? Or HBM for that matter? Don't recall it making all that much of a difference in typical scenarios but I've been out of the loop for a bit... Has anything changed?

I still couldn't force my 970 to choke at 1440p even with its impaired VRAM but just curious

5X has double the memory bandwidth but I don't see the gap between the cards ever changing (20-10%) - they are just too similar.
What you see today is what you'll get: 5X does help at 4k, but the benchmarks already tell you the whole story.

Anyway is not a gimmick, Nvidia is not putting much emphasis on it, is just a feature.

The better buy (price/performance) is definitely the 1070, even more if you're "only" at 1440p.

Anyone else annoyed at the drivers? Doesn't seem to of had a single worthwhile driver update since release. It's all VR this VR that, nothing boasting gains in Forza beta or any new or even current game. My performance in ARK and other game's is quite shocking, not half the jump it should have been coming from a GTX670.

The only game I'm happy with so far is Witcher 3, that does sit at 60fps completely maxed out, other than that...

Nvidia better get their heads out of their backsides.

Currently a gimmick, the actual vram throughput on the 1080 is not much higher than the 1070. Of course in the future if the video memory performance gap widens then maybe not, but for now I say it is.

Nah man, if they weren't faffing about with this VR gimmick they'd of released some real drivers by now and we'd be happy. No point buying a 1070 just to get outperformed by 970's and AMD cards for months on end!

Pascal is very similar to Maxwell, drivers are not going to give you anything you don't already have, you'll just see updates for new games.

Nvidia doesn't need to fix anything, DX11 performance was always great. They can't "make up" more performance.

And a 980Ti was outperforming 970s one year ago, as the 1070 is right now, don't know what you're talking about :confused:

Amd is doing well in One game thanks to Vulkan, that's it.

You have a strange prospective.

The VR gimick drivers are great for us with the vive or rift.. We all have to have some pleasure

So if I put the Power Limit up to +111 and the temp limit up to 92c...this would give the card an out of the box higher OC ?...at the moment it goes to 1974-ish .

Should get my Zotac GTX 1070 on Monday. Out to everybody I see having to sell their old GPU's to fund for the new one. I have sold my PS4, old 280x and a PSVITA to buy my Zotac

Not necessarily, only if those are the factors limiting the Boost 3.0.
