Just installed and had a play.

It is the most ridiculously sized card ever! Good job I have a big case!

Seems to boost to 2025mhz then settle down to about 2000mhz after a little bit when looping Heaven. As usual I never get the best cards out of the box but it will do. probably not going to bother overclocking.

I see what people mean about the revving but I don't think it is going to bother me. Only seems to do it as it approaches 60 degrees. Seemed to hover around 63 degrees after looping Heaven on extreme for about 30 mins. Not bad in this heat as it is truly scorchio here!

I like how you can change the colour on the "armour" ( the backplate) and the cooler.

Mine is about the same. No big deal anyway, even at +215 Core and +500 Mem, I only got an additional 7.5% performance out of it.

I will just be leaving it on stock. As the factory OC is good enough :D

Oh and welcome to the club, I got mine from the same place as you, but mine arrived earlier ;)

Haha, yeh they took their time! Although to be fair it was still within the window that they promised when I ordered it (just) so can't complain too much. I had a long week at work last week and then was away all weekend for a wedding so even if it came last week I couldn't do much about it so quite happy it came today really.

From a few bench runs I have done it seems to be about 50% faster than my MSI 980 gaming (comparing out of the box for out of the box scores) so that's pretty good.

Feels like a nice well built premium bit of kit for the money as well.

Yeah. Really well built. Huge heatsink! :D

After being done playing about and setting the colour I want on FireStorm I uninstalled it and installed the latest MSI Afterburner so I can setup a nice custom fan profile.

Here is what I have come up with so far which solves the revving problem:

TOJG50u.png

Since I have set it, not gone above 60c and it is hot in here...

I also preordered it at the same place as you guys since the price was nice :D
I bought it a bit later though so I think next week will be my turn.

I was measuring the length of the card and I see I have to remove a HDD cage but it’s no issue since it's empty.

^ Cool, thanks. I will give that fan curve a go if the revving starts to bother me. I assume with that curve the fans are still off up until 50 degrees?

Yeah. Nice price indeed ;)

Yep, fans do not turn on until 50C. Which is great, I play FIFA 16 4K maxed with fans never having to come on as it does not go above 46C, and that is in this hot weather :)

Then when it reaches 50 degree's it ramps up to 33% fan speed which is not intrusive. I would rather hear the fan at 33% than hearing revving which was annoying me.

Just had a little play in firestorm actually ( as I am assuming that is the only program that can do the rgb lighting?) and mine seems happy at 30% (ie it doesn't rev at that fan speed) so I have set it to 30% at 50 degrees and that seems to keep it around the 60 degree mark at full load.

Will probably keep it like that as at 30% the fans are almost inaudible anyway.

What you will find is that at 30% and even 31% if you set them on manual to test, after a while they rev also. Did not try 32%, but for sure 33% does not rev. Reason I found that it does this is, even at a certain percentage, it does not maintain an exact rpm, therefore when it drops a little in rpm and hits that cut off threshold, it will stop again. Difference being is, at 30 and 31% it will rev very little. Instead of on of every few seconds, may take 30 seconds until cuts off.

As far as I know, can only change the RGB in FireStorm, but not like you will be changing it often. Like I have mine on green now, and it will stay that way for quite a few months I imagine. When I fancy changing it, it will only take a few minutes to install FireStorm again.

Oh I see. I will keep tabs on it then. Hadn't realised that it stays the colour you set it at even after you uninstall firestorm!

Seems silly they only let you do 10% increments in the manual fan curve setting in firestorm even though you can set it at any percentage on the manual slider

This is why I decided to uninstall it after a few days and just install Afterburner to make use of proper fan curve control and having the OSD.

Here it is:D And it's unbelievably quiet and about 10C cooler under load than my 970 Strix (61-64C, occasionally touching 65), has absolutely no coil whine (the Asus buzzed slightly, nothing noticeable though) and feels like a higher quality card overall. AND IT DOESN'T SAG!!!!!:D

Now I know why MSI are so popular:p
