The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

according to gpuz my zotac extreme doesn't suffer from thermal or power limit issues, its volatage stability, that's is when I set it at 2151on the core and try to add 800 on mem

I'm just leaving my Amp extreme at stock. 2ghz out of the box boost is fine and it seems the majority will suffer with stability issues at some point approaching the 2.1ghz or more mark.

It does appear 2.15ghz is the very most anyone can hope for on these on stock volts and air.

mine seems to be quite a good one, it boosts to 2037 out of box and can run 2126 all day long with out touching volts or pwr limit, 2133 requires me to set volts to max , 2151 starts artefacting a bit, plus ive seen it pull 1.083 volts at that which I believe is the max volts a 1070 can put out atm

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your GTX 1070.

Has anyone registered their amp extreme online for the 5 year warranty and if so how long did it take you to get the warranty certificate back from them? I registered mine 5 days a go now but still nothing and wondering if I should chase it up or if it just takes them a bit of time to issue it.

Okay perhaps I dont undrstand then, please explain to me how a 1080 drops its max boost at 50c due to TDP and not temp then please?

Also please explain why 1080s with 1.25v and kept under at low temps under 60C can reach 2300 to 2400. Surely the TDP would have racked these cards back before then?

If it happens every single time at 50C, then maybe it is temp related, just I have seen no evidence of that been the case. The only video I have seen showing throttling shows nothing happening at 50C.

I also dont see it on my own card.

Whenever people have posted graphs etc. the TDP usage is always ommited.

The people who have modded their cards to use 1.25v also modded the TDP limit so its higher. Stock TDP would have no chance at 1.25v.

A thought I just had maybe its just certian vendors that do this, as then it would explain why some people see the behaviour but not others.

when gpuz reports VREL, it can be TDP related, what is happening is the bios is refusing to allow the higher voltage because it would exceed TDP usage limits, and as such the card has to throttle because the voltage that is allowed is not stable for that clock. What is the TDP % when you see VREL?

My card throttles even at 40C because even early on it hits TDP limits as it ramps up quickly to max clocks. It will initially goto 2068 but then throttle back to 2050 to stay within TDP.

My MSI definitely has thermal throttling and it sucks. It starts at 2114mhz until it hits 50c, then it goes to 2088 and finally stabilises at 2076 when the card hits 66c. It always happens, the card might be at 70-80% usage but as long as the it stays under 66c, I'll get 2088mhz instead of 2076mhz. It would be stable at 2114mhz but it just won't stay there, despite temps being nowhere near the limit and practically the same as without OC.

Besides, it only effectively boosts to 1911mhz out of the box for the same reason.

Selling on the 980Ti I got off the MM for the same money I got it for.
Housemate is heading to US at start of August so I'll order the EVGA 1070 from wherever is cheapest currently B&H at $435.
Checked EVGA's global warranty and it's the full 3 years so will go for them.
Hopefully it'll come down even down to $400 in a month :)

I just got an automated message within minutes confirming they received my product registration. That was 10 days ago.

So no one here has their 1070 under water? Even a brief look in the 1080 thread, not seen anyone do it yet. One guy did buy some blocks though.

I get the feeling that water cooling would get you that extra 50-100MHz by being able to stay under 40c, but not much more as they do not really hit much more than 2200MHz stable from what I can see.
