today is the last day of the EVGA £599 deal and i still thinking about it

Moved from Titan X Tri-SLI (same as 980Ti performance and used 2 way SLI most the time) to Tri 1080's (likewise third card set to just do Physx) and for the most part there is a performance bump or it allow more eye candy for the same fps. But definitely not worth it from a price to performance perspective and IMO they are not that significant with half decent clocked Titan X / 980Ti's Save your cash and just grab the inevitable 1080Ti I think.

I was happy with it... smoother gameplay with the improved minimums mostly.

Now I'm happy with my Titan XP SLi... but with the games I play, I tend to have SLi disabled as a single card is good enough for most things.

It's only really Total War Warhammer that needed the second card and I haven't played it in ages.

Hey guys I am contemplating upgrading my MSI 980 Ti for a similar 1080 I game at 2560x1440 resolution and i normally try and max everything out.

This is a worthy upgrade?

It's all depend on what titles you play.

Well I am mostly play games like Far cry, Mafia not really a competitive gamer say FPS if I do play a FPS its just for the single player mode not multiplayer

Was holding off, holding off and then I caved. But much happier especially now I don't have to rely on sli working or not. Overclocked well out of the gate too!

Now to wait for my new monitor...

So here's a weird thing i've noticed since fitting my card this afternoon. For some reason that i can't fathom my card will ramp up to 1671 mhz after about 10-15 mins from 203 mhz after doing absolutely nothing (from a cold boot even) other than having HWMonitor running and wont seem to go back down to idle speed. I first noticed earlier after i first booted and installed the drivers and whatnot while watching some youtube vids that it ramped up and went back down as it should but after i went afk for awhile and came back that it seemed stuck at 1671mhz and wouldn't go back down for which i thought the screensaver was to blame but apparently not :confused:

. Am i missing something obvious? I can't see anything obvious running in the task manger.

I don't have any ocing software installed (afterburner or even whatever the asus utility is called) and i have tried to trigger it to drop by changing the refresh rate. The only settings i have touched are in the nvidia control panel in the global settings. I made sure gsync was on, set power management to prefer max performance, prefered refresh rate to highest available and vsync on.According to HWmon the gpu utilization is at 0%.

edit* Just downloaded and installed GPU Tweak II and so far (30 mins or so) it seems to have stopped the gpu from spiking up and staying there.Technology is weird sometimes.

I have noticed the same with mine, not too concerned right now to find out. But is odd, out of interest what displays you running through it?

I have a Dell S2716DG (1440p Gsync). Not that i was too concerned with it running at 1671mhz but it was idling at 50-55 degrees, because of the zero fan thing, then at around 56 the fan would kick on and give a quick blow then off then on etc until it hit 50 again (it's not really a loud fan but i have my pc on the desk next to me). Installing the GPU Tweak does seem to have stopped it though.

edit* Just came back from afk for awhile and the GPU is sitting at 1671mhz again so i don't know whats causing it :mad:

Your not running 144hz all the time are you? Because that does sometimes cause a glitch where it will ramp the GPU up.

Run at 120hz (144hz for games) and it should idle just fine.

I'd also make sure your running optimal or adaptive in power management, (3d settings, nvidia control panel).

At the time of editing my post above i was on 100hz (but i did try changing to others but it didn't come back down at all,had a 780 at one time so new about that trick from before) but the power management was set to prefer max.I've since done some reading about and set to 120hz, optimal power and also set gsync to full screen only so will keep an eye on it for a bit now while i d/l Doom (been shopping and only just got back and put pc on).

The main thing i was finding odd was that on boot up it would idle at 203mhz for quite awhile but then jump up for no reason and stay there.

I'm not, I'm only running a 100hz monitor and the 60hz TV.
I will have to look at the power management.
