guys....im afraid im not coming to MM3 :(

i heard from vauxhalls today and basically along with the 300 quid to fix me car its gonna cost a further 900 quid for a new loom in the car as they cant spot whereabouts the electrical fault is in the cables. so i told them to shov it and give it back to me as i got it so i payed 123 labour and it was left at that

they advised me not to drive the car for long distances as it could cause an electrical fire :(

maybe next time aye? im currently sorting out a new car

Well guys been blasting about in the car yesterday n today, first time i've driven a rwd.

Almost did a 180 round a tight roundabout when the backend stepped right out, was going slow enough just blipped the throttle a tiny amount in 2nd and it was a case of goodbye traction, think the limited slip worked somewhat but nothing a good dose of oposite lock wouldn't sort!

Going to get some new tyres put on the rear tomorrow, just hope the moor isn't too wet or i will be driving like a granny, don't wanna total it in the first weekend of ownership.

Regards,

Mary :p

I would love to own a RWD car, its that situation you describe puts me off ever so slightly, i guess you just got to experiment get the backend out intentionally then get it back so you know u can do it, when you have mastered that im sure it will be a whole lot of fun :D.

Aye, I've only had a go of RWD and when it lets go you have to be pretty quick to disengage the drive (i.e. depress the clutch) and countersteer.

My car is still in the garage, a passenger side wheel bearing has gone. It should be ready by 12pm tomorrow. Its a common fault on my car apparently, but I am seriously considering getting rid of my Civic, getting something cheap to insure and getting another 2 years NCB.

If a car goes sideways I wouldnt want to be touching the clutch at all.

Indeed cutting the power will send you round as will lifting off, you gotta feather the throttle, as mike says keep it balanced.

Getting new rears fitted so i will have that crazy outside coating to rub off first!

My mistake guys, doh! I was getting all confused. As you said lifting off will make it all worse.

I was still thinking in terms of correcting a skid on a FWD car, where you would remove the drive from the wheels to allow them to regain traction.

When your front starts to drift (understeer) all you need to do is lift off the throttle and the wheels should grip again (Long as the road surface aint slippy) i would expect any sudden pressing the clutch in might unsettle the car.

Key i suppose is to be a smooth progressive driver, rather than throwing the car about.

:D

I drove the 214 back home today. It felt sooooooooo different to the 220!

I wouldn't exactly call it slow. I was still quite impressed with the way it picked up in 2nd. Going to miss it for sure :( The clutch and brakes are totally different though, especially seeing as how the bite point is so high up in the 214. Revving the nuts off it and not going anywhere must have been quite a sight to some bystanders, lol.

Still, things have got to change. Hope westy enjoys her :)

Anyway, back on topic... phate, really sorry to hear that mate. It must be absolutely gutting to see your pride and joy end up in such a state. Can you get a refund on that room you booked? Hope to see you at a future meet with a nice new car :)

battery charger. You never know when you might need them. ;)

:D Not me :p

Rock on! :D Can't wait for this! Meeting westy in Manchester at 3 (ohhh, he'll be on his way now) and then going to take him for a lap or two of the 'track'.

I just hope he brought enough money for petrol.
