Crucial Anniversary: The results

Hi guys, I got a couple of sticks of this and found that one of the sticks gets loads of errors in MemTest even at stock speeds.

I'm planning to RMA them, just wanted to check something first. The bad stick fails at stock speeds (667MHz) when the RAM voltage is 1.8V, which is what the motherbaord automatically sets it to. I havent' tried it at a higher voltage.

Should the RAM pass MemTest at stock speeds at 1.8V? I see that the OCUK page says 2.2V, but isn't that what it's rated up to, not what it should normally be set to?

Upping the voltage may well solve the problem, but it would also mean that the ceiling for that stick would probably be lower than it should be.

By the way the good stick is currently running happily at 1037MHz with 1.8V, although the timings are pretty loose, haven't tried tightening them up yet.

Cheers

Crucial 10th - DDR800 3-3-3-8 - 2.25vDimm (1.25vNB)

So after passing a massive overnight session of Memtest86 it goes and fails Orthos after a few hours. I thought to myself since there where no errors in Memtest86 maybe it had something to do with the Northbridge, so I upped the vMCH (Northbridge Volts) one notch from 1.25v to 1.45v

Crucial 10th - DDR800 3-3-3-8 - 2.25vDimm (1.45vNB)

Will need to really let it run longer but I would like to think it will pass just fine, I've got more vDimm and other voltages to add if I need them. Btw the sticks are running quite cool @ 2.25v :)

Hi guys, I'm not that much of an experienced overclocker and would like a bit of advice.

Spec:

E6300 @ 2.8ghz, stock volts, Tuniq Tower
P5B Deluxe
2gb Crucial 10th Anniversarys, stock volts

CPUZMemory.jpg

I'm happy with the overclock on the E6300 (at the moment :D) But would I see any improvement if I lowered my timings? I'm currently on stock volts and have gradually been increasing my FSB over the past couple of weeks, I'm not in any rush as it's plenty fast enough for me at the moment.

Does anyone suggest I lower my timings at all or should I just leave them as is and continue my OC by just upping the fsb and volts?

Cheers

Hi Andelusion,

we got the same kit so I should be able to help u a bit. If you are gonna stay at 400MHz you can try these settings below:

400MHz-FSB 1:1 (DDR800) 4-4-4-12 [1.8vDimm]
400MHz-FSB 1:1 (DDR800) 3-3-3-8 [2.25vDimm - 1.45vNB]

If your still working out your overclocks then leave them at 4-4-4-12 (or even 5-5-5-15) doesn't matter that they are loose to begin with but once you figured out what FSB and CPU overclock you can do then you will be able to go back and tweak/tighten the memory.

I would imagine that if you wanted to deffo take the memory out the equation I would set 5-5-5-15 [2.25v] and off you go! The motherboard or CPU will give u agro well before the memory craps out

Thanks for the help but I'm getting a little worried now!

I've left my FSB at 400 and put the RAM timings to 5-5-5-15 at 2.25v.

Began running Orthos, but got an error after 32 seconds :(

One thing I'm concerned about is the CPU voltage with the P5B Deluxe. Putting it onto auto in BIOS sets it at over 1.5v  Am I being an idiot or is this way too high? At the moment it's at around 1.184 according to CPUZ.

I'm a bit worried now so I've put everything back to stock and I'm going to run Orthos for a good while to see if it throws up any errors. I'm also going to run memtest (I believe there's a windows version? - didn't know that).

Orthos what? Small FFTs, Large In-Place FFTs, Blend?

I've taken most of my voltage controls off auto and set them manually (and minimum) in BIOS, both CPUs I have so far run fine and overclock some using 1.325vCore.

I'm looking to do this also - has it been stable?

This RAM has so much potential

At 1.8v (2.8ghz):

This is my first attempt, I feel the timings could get much tighter. Same with the overclocking I've been on 3.2ghz without any issues, 3.6ghz is feasbale imo. Just need to sort out these temp issues.

Wayne, get on msn some time bud.

Im having major issues with my 10th Anniversary, i've RMA'd it and the mobo (DS4), and the mobo was found faulty and replaced. but i was told the ram was fine. when i got it home even at a setting of 5-5-5-15 with 2.2v i cant get the ram to run at 333 (667) without it bringing up lots of errors in memtest. Does the ram sound dodgy even though it passed the RMA tests, is it possible my E6300 is damaged and thats whats causing the problems?
