Asus MW221U 22" Ghosting in games.

Have you tried the lighthouse AVI to check for negative ghosting ?

Yes that was the 1st test!

And YES IT IS STILL A PROBLEM

No fix until the currently worked on fix eta April. ;-(

I am only pleased that I have a monitor that does not ghost on the deskop , colours seem right and no monitor squeeling noises.!

To be honest I could not 'see' any ghosting issues with my last monitor that was 12ms (Viewsonic vx912), thus when I switch OFF overdrive it seems perfectly fine. Shame it does not remember that setting ;-(

Even so as consumers we should expect a fix ASAP, and If I had only just bought one and could return it I would.

NOTE: In the overdrive menu it seems that the only way to switch it OFF is to hit the LEFT arrow , as hitting the RIGHT one seems to always select ON. !?" - Yet more 'bugs' or 'features' in the firmware. This is different behaviour that the earlier versions.

I applied for my RMA in mid Feb was told thing should be sorted within a few days, then I get a call saying that there was no stock, so i will have to wait a few days. weeks go by with no contact

Then today, (came as a complete surprise) this Vasco fella rings me. Told me that a firmware was in the works & it should be ready my mid April.

lets just hope this is a real fix

i tried it with my Asus monitor yes, and i couldnt particulary see it. all i know was when i had overdrive on videos lagged and paused, coupled with screen tearing very bad i returned and got a refund so all is good.

I was asking whether you have tried it with the Samsung not the Asus.

Oh Sorry... Yes it will be interesting to see if any other screens experience the same sort of problem. Or if it is just Asus's implementation of 'Overdrive'

I just got off the phone with ASUS support USA. The guy said they had some issues with ATI video cards and this monitor, but with cross fire. I'm only running on one ATi x1950xt card. He then said they test using a DVI-I dual link cable. The monitor shipped with a DVI-D single link I believe.

I have 4 DVI cables, none of which are DVI-I dual, ofcourse.

Here's a link to where you can see the pin config on the cable:
http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html#Page06

Does anyone have a dual DVI-I cable they are currently using, or can test this out?

I told him I tested it out on an ATi 800gto2, Nvidia 7900gt, and now my new card. He's going to talk with the support mgr and see what they come up with.

He did try to get ahold of Vacso in UK ASUS, but must have been home by then. He sent Vasco an e-mail to find out what is in the works 'across the pond' as you say.

Well I'm the same as you guys...

Had a chat with Vasco yesterday and he basically informed me of the same April fix that you guys have mentioned. I gotta say though that him taking the time to ring us and to keep up to date on this forum is excellent work and gives me faith that one day we shall have a fix for this.

Overall I think the ASUS monitor is excellent apart from the ghosting which can be an annoyance, but yeah all we want is are our monitors to do exactly what it said on the tin :)

I've turned overdrive off and mine is flawless.

Yes but the problem is that MOST screens out there don't remember this setting and reset back to ON again, even after it goes to sleep. (Ie not manually switched off)

I agree I do still see tearing with vsync on but only on some games, in particular Inferno :(

I can cope with manually turning off Overdrive when I need, at least until Asus fix this.
