Wonderful news while I'm at work, my gf just rang me up to tell me that all the lights in my case were flashing and all the fans were spinning up and down apart from the cpu fan and upon turning it off at the back and then on again it does exactly the same, will also not respond to the power button being pressed

the strange thing is though, the pc was not even on...so did it just decide to blow itself up overnight?

the even stranger thing is, I bought my PSU about 3 weeks after my m8 bought his (about a year ago) and his did exactly the same thing....3 weeks ago

They were both 580watt Hiper psu's

I won't be too fussed if its just the psu thats blown as I can RMA it or use one of my others, but I will be very upset if its taken other stuff with it, unfortunately I'm now stuck at work until later so I can't even find out until then, grrrr

Must be annoying having to sit and wait to find out what the damage is. Those Hiper PSUs are bad news, you just have to wonder what the heck QC are doing.

thought hiper was good, a year ago everyone raved about them on here, have had no trouble with it, stable voltages, runs my SLI rig, but a year has passed since then, I take it from your replies a lot of these have blown up?

and yes, its very annoying to have to wait to find out what else its taken with it (I so hope nothing, coz my m8s PC was fine and he had same problem)...but then again he didnt have his gf at home listening to a clicking noise for 4 hours before getting up to find out what it was,....it was my pc flashing and clicking with no cpu fan spinning...great, 4 hours of breakage

Near enough what happened to mine just over a week ago. I'm RMA'ing the Hiper to keep as a spare and have just ordered a Corsair.

Initially Hipers seems to get good reviews but now I just think they are TimeBombs!

time bomb.

but remember everything starts small and faddish.

the Tagans were considered superior - then they developped the ticking.

Hiper got great reviews and were considered great value for money - then they started to die a year or 2 later

Corsair got great reviews and are considered the one to get - future life expectancy - unknown.

I'm going to test my rig when I get home with my Old Antec 480watt, anyone recon this will be ok to run the rig in my sig til new psu comes, or recon itd be best to just test and then leave it?

yeah thats what I'm concerned about too, I'm totally not in the mood/cant be arsed to pull apart my pc at the moment, wasnt planning on doing that til the end of the month wen im getting new cpu mobo n ram

thats what im trying to do, gettin P5N-32 SLI, C2D 6600 and 2gig corsair DDR2....but with PSU blowing up its putting a strain on the finance since I want a new one now not an RMA of one which will break again

How long you had this Hiper Musser? EDIT: Just seen, 3 weeks ago. Well you might be alright to RMA and obtain a refund, I did that on an item not so long ago because I wanted to get something from somewhere else. Or you could even order something to replace the Hiper (another brand).
