Nvidia has plans to release a dual gpu to complete with AMD's Antilles 6990. The GTX 590 is based off 2 GF110 chips with 512 cuda cores on each gpu, totaling of 1024 cuda cores and it will also feature a 384 bit bus per gpu.

This is rather interesting. I wondering if i need a nuclear power plant to power it lol. Still wonder if it can finally do 3 displays on a single card.

If priced correctly, this thing can dominate the GPU market. Easier to set up triple screen gaming on this with 3 DVIs. Now what worries me is the power draw :p.

I couldnt care less about power. My worry is that nv will price them too highif it dominates over the 6990 like they did with the gtx 580 over the 6970

If Nvidia are releasing a dual GF110 card, particularly if it's based on "full fat" 512 shader core chips, then I'm sure they must have a new power containment system lined up as well. No way that a dual GF110 setup would fit within a roughly 300W envelope otherwise...

This is shaping up to be an interesting round :) I still think that AMD will have a slight edge with the 6990 though.

What games do people need these high end cards for? The only demanding games graphically are Crysis and Metro 2033. I can play BF:BC 2 on my 8800GT at 1900x1200 with 2AA and some AF. Seems crazy to spend so much money on a card when there are no games out to use it with. There can't be a very big market of people gaming on 3 monitors, so I don't know how they make money on these cards.

^^ You would be surprised how much money people pump into their setups, not everyone posts on forums. There are many people who game on PC for the reason that they only want the very best tech and visuals along with the highest framerates. Just go on youtube and look at some of the Eyefinity setups

if nvidia bring out new tech which can utilize three screens ati will have lost this years gpu battle tbh.

ATI can do 6 & even 12 on one card on a single GPU card & it does not need to be the most expensive card in there range for such an option.

When NV do 3 screens on a single card in the 5850 - 6950 range then ATI has something to worry about when it comes to multi screening gaming.

The pic shows dual 8 pin power connectors unless I'm mistaken, 375W

No hotlinking!

And given the superb cooling system in the 580 hopefully this might be the first top end dual GPU part to not sound like a jet engine under load.
