Well Lads n Lasses the new Football season is a mere two weeks away (if your a fan from the football league, 3 weeks for the Prem). Will Newcastle storm the Coca Cola or get relegated to the 3rd tier of English Football. Will Liverpool finally break their duck and be the champions of the top flight. So what's your predictions for all the major silverware, promotions and relegations and how do you think your club will fare this season ?

So to get the ball rolling

I think this is going to be one of them seasons where the squad is being rebuilt again. Tevez and Ronaldo gone and Giggs, Neville, VDS & Scholes surely on their last outings in the top flight this year will see players like Macheda, Foster & Gibson more time in and around the 1st team to see if they can step upto the plate in years to come.

Owen I think could be a good signing but I don't want him a regular fixture at the expense of Rooney playing central. I'm disappointed he has been given the number 7 shirt, really disappointed. I think the key to our success will be the continued(or lack of it) fitness of Owen Hargreaves. Him being fit last season would have seen us draw if not win at least one of our defeats to Liverpool in my opinion.

As for the rest of the prem. I think Chelsea will be the team to beat this year. I don't think there squad is big enough to cope with a full domestic and euro campaign on both fronts. A very good strong team all over and good depth to the squad. Possibility of a 'Marquee' signing makes them my favourites.

Arsenal have done good business to get rid of Adebayor at that price but unless they add some steel to their midfield then I cant see them doing nothing more than chase the pack. All the Arsenal fans are creaming their keks at the prospect of Rosicky returning 'Its like a new signing' we hear them say but is he all that ??? Not really.

Liverpool are a funny one because they definitely need another forward to take the pressure off Torres. I doubt there is a better number nine at present but this is a compressed season and him already having gone through two short summers may take it's toll especially in a world cup year. Their finances may dictate their success this year. I still question Rafa's judgement on paying £18m for Johnson when there are more pressing areas that need attention.

Siddy - Well they are spending big. Having the ability to go 7 days between games due to no euro commitments means they should be fresh for each game. The balancing act will be keeping them all happy.

Up in the air, as always! One from Real, Barca or Inter, as well as the British teams being there or there-abouts. I'll have a punt on Real, but it's too close to call!

My Team - Liverpool

Liverpool's season hinges on whether or not Alonso leaves for me; if he goes, which I think he will, we will end up in 4th. If he stays, we'll push for the title. He's irreplaceable.Johnson is a great signing, and if we can push one more signing through without losing anyone major I'll be happy. I don't think that we'll manage it though. The best thing that's happened for us over the summer is Gerrard coming away from his trial innocent. Our defence is also a real worry now.

Man Utd are above Chelsea simply due to the stability at the club. Despite losing Ronaldo and Tevez, their squad is still as strong as Chelsea's (who haven't done much business themselves). Both squads aren't as thorough as they ought to be, but I wouldn't put it past Abramovich to turn it into another season of managerial turmoil there, whereas Man Utd's setup will be rock-solid as always.

Arsenal have sold well, and I've always thought that the vast majority of their squad is fantastic. They have to sign a defensive midfielder, and if they do they'll be hard to beat.

Chelsea get my vote for the FA Cup, as it simply requires less consistency than winning the league. Their first team is strong, and as long as they get through the earlier rounds (and realize it's a competition worth playing their strongest line-up in) they have a great chance.

Finally, Man City should be close to the top four, but I reckon it will take them a few months (and possibly a managerial change) before they gel, by which time I expect them to be too far off the pace this year.

We've just not invested enough so far, shipped out lots of players and the only people we've bought are 9 years old or crippled. Or both.

Too many teams around us getting the players they want and our squad is just too small to compete. I think we could get a good cup run together but don't see us getting far in the Europa League again. I think we'll finish 8th.

Every season people predict Inter to do well in the Champs leage but each season they are poor, I really can't see past Barca they will be a force.

It may seem biased coming from a Reds fan, but I reckon we can win it this year. We've got a pretty strong back four, as long as our centre backs can stay fit and injury free. Glen Johnson should do quite well at right back, and Insua will give Aurelio competition at left back. Our midfield is strong, as long as Alonso stays, people say we need a new right winger, but I think Kuyt has what it takes, if not I hope Benitez has the sense to play Babel, so far he hasn't played nearly enough games for us. Obviously Torres will be hitting goals at the front :D

Whilst I am ever the optimist, I struggle to see us winning the league this season as we haven't made another key player signing (yet). I also can see some injuries happening which, if in our central defence, could really pose some serious threats to any serious league challenge.
I do however see Liverpool playing some excellent football and I expect Torres to be the top scorer this season.
However, provided we don't suffer any significant departures pre-season and perhaps make a high profile addition to the squad, as well as being lucky with lack of injuries, I can see us pushing the title right up to the wire. It could well be our season and I wouldn't write us off just yet. I think things will become clearer once the transfer window closes. Also I wonder whether Rafa will wait to sign someone new in January.
I think we will do well in most competitions but I think our main focus this term should be the league and I would be surprised to see us in the later stages of the FA and League Cups. I think at least a quarter final in the Champions League should also be expected.
I can't wait for it all to start.

Well, I think we will just miss out on a Play-off place (hope I'm proved wrong). With a quality CM and a replacement for Kenny (Lonergan) we could, and probably will push for a play-off spot, but without those, I can't see it happening.

I think Quarters for League Cup and 4th round of FA Cup.

Even if we don't manage that, atleast I don't have to watch Craig Beattie in a SUFC shirt ever again. And if I do, I WILL pull my eye balls out.
