FA Premiership
I think it's a straight fight for first place between Chelsea and Manchester United, as it has been for some years.
United are still a very strong side, despite losing two good players. They've bought a natural finisher in Owen, and a couple of promising young players.
Chelsea, hinge on Mr Mafia, and if he will keep the current manager. If they keep the manager I think Chelsea have every chance of battling for that top spot, with another change mid way through a season, they could drop a few places.
Arsenal and Liverpool fighting for third and fourth. Liverpool pipping them I think.
Arsenal have acted very well in the transfer market, they've done well selling a striker, and signing a defender, they need now a good defensive midfielder, a real battler.
Liverpool, have been fairly unsuccessful in the transfer market imo, they've paid over the odds for a good right back, and haven't signed another to partner or replace and injured Torres. Liverpool's problem last year was they were a two man team at times, if they suffer injuries again, they could find themselves off the pace. They will struggle if they lose Alonso, I can't see Real bumping up to pay over the odds for him, They've spent a lot this summer and I doubt they'll spend a massive amount again before the season starts.
Manchester City have built a good team, who are still weak defensively. Aston Villa haven't signed anyone of notice so far, and have sold players.
Everton, have signed a good player in Jo on a season long loan, with players staying fit they could get fourth.
Spurs have a good team, a bit heavy on forwards, but a good start to this season will allow them to be in the mix for a top finish.
I expect Fulham to push on and improve even more this season, Hodgeson is a top class manager.
I think the three will be more concerned with Europe then domestic cups, I can see one of them winning the cup still, but maybe seeing another Everton in a final
Portsmouth, Hull, Stoke and the three promoted teams to fight it out over relegation.
Pompy don't seem to have done anything in the transfer market in regards to improving the team.
Hull were very lucky last season, and the three promoted will have to do a lot of work to stay up.
Champs League
Barcelona, a simply fantastic side, who if they reach any kind of form will be unstoppable.
I always fancy Manchester United and Chelsea to do well, Manchester United are a quality team, and Chelsea very industrious.
Real Madrid, this season will be either make or break, they will either be fantastic or will fail.
I support Sheffield Wednesday, and while I think the play offs are achievable
I doubt we will get there this season, I feel we lack cover in the midfield and any real stand out quality.
I'm not 100% on who will be going up, but I'd wager the other team in Sheffield to do very well, I think they're a certainty for the play offs at least.
