My Team - Arsenal - Expecting an improvement over last year. Looking at our fully fit forward line I think we'll terrorise a lot of defences. We need to cut out the mistakes at the back and think we'll see an improvement here as well. Injuries will probably determine our season again for good or bad.

Up in the air, as always! One from Real, Barca or Inter, as well as the British teams being there or there-abouts. I'll have a punt on Real, but it's too close to call!

My Team - Liverpool

Liverpool's season hinges on whether or not Alonso leaves for me; if he goes, which I think he will, we will end up in 4th. If he stays, we'll push for the title. He's irreplaceable.Johnson is a great signing, and if we can push one more signing through without losing anyone major I'll be happy. I don't think that we'll manage it though. The best thing that's happened for us over the summer is Gerrard coming away from his trial innocent. Our defence is also a real worry now.

Man Utd are above Chelsea simply due to the stability at the club. Despite losing Ronaldo and Tevez, their squad is still as strong as Chelsea's (who haven't done much business themselves). Both squads aren't as thorough as they ought to be, but I wouldn't put it past Abramovich to turn it into another season of managerial turmoil there, whereas Man Utd's setup will be rock-solid as always.

Arsenal have sold well, and I've always thought that the vast majority of their squad is fantastic. They have to sign a defensive midfielder, and if they do they'll be hard to beat.

Chelsea get my vote for the FA Cup, as it simply requires less consistency than winning the league. Their first team is strong, and as long as they get through the earlier rounds (and realize it's a competition worth playing their strongest line-up in) they have a great chance.

Finally, Man City should be close to the top four, but I reckon it will take them a few months (and possibly a managerial change) before they gel, by which time I expect them to be too far off the pace this year.

I don't want to sound rude but being a Liverpool fan why the hell do you have us down as finishing fourth? What kind of a fan are you? (please don't respond with realist) Next season were doing the treble :)

Well, I can't get my predictions any more wrong than last year... :p

Premiership:
1st Man Utd
2nd Liverpool
3rd Chelsea
4th Arsenal

18th Burnley
19th Wolves
20th Hull

FA Cup: Man Utd
Carling Cup: Chelsea

Champions League: Can't say no to Real Madrid, can you?
Europa League: Who cares? I guess an unfashionable team from Germany/eastern Europe.

My Team - Spurs
We'll get beat by Liverpool on the first day of the season and then go into freefall. 'Arry will blame everyone but himself and get sacked after eight games. A new messiah will take over, we'll desperately splash out £50 million on mediocre players in January and then finish comfortably mid-table.

Premiership:
1st Chelsea
2nd Man Utd
3rd Liverpool
4th Man City (OMG I took Arsenal out of it, a few injuries and they will have a nightmare)

18th Hull(as for relegation I expect to see this possibly change with the inclusion of Wigan)
19th Burnley
20th Wolves

Champions League: Real Madrid @ 5/1....bargain in my eyes.

the one I care about

SPL

1st: Rangers
2nd: Celtic
3rd: Dundee Utd
4th: Hearts

12th: Hamilton

My Team - Rangers
Despite including any new faces to the squad the return to full fitness of Kevin Thomson and a resurgence in the form of Steven Naismith sees Rangers have a successful defence of our title. We manage to make the last 16 of the Champions League after some more defensive heroics away from home akin to the UEFA cup campaign in 2007/2008. A successful defence of the Scottish cup also would make for a nice season for the Gers :)

Premiership:
1st Chelsea
2nd Man utd
3rd Liverpool
4th Arsenal

18th Portsmouth
19th Burnley
20th Hull

Carling Cup: Chelsea

I think Chelasea under Ancelotti will be revitalised this season picking up from the feelgood factor huddink seemed to bring. United may have a bit of a Ronaldo hangover.

I think Portsmouth are in real bother for the coming season

as for My own team I am hoping for a safe mid table finish with no flirting with the bottom of the table, I would hope for a quiet last month!

and Newcastle to have successive relegations..league one beckons!

EPL: I think Manchester United, even without the big names, have proven time and time again that solid foundations are everything. They will have players who were classed as fringe players fighting for spots and I only see them slipping up against Chelsea. Put Arsenal for the cup as these Cup's are a bit of a lottery.

1st: Man United
2nd: Chelsea
3rd: Liverpool
4th: Arsenal

18th: Hull
19th: Burnley
20th: Wolves

FA Cup: Chelsea
Carling Cup: Arsenal

Champions League: Barcelona
Europa League: Some Spanish/Portuguese Minnow

SPL:
1st: Celtic
2nd: Rangers
3rd: Hearts
4th: Hibernian

Scottish Cup: Rangers
CIS Cup: Hearts

My Team - Celtic FC: I know it's biased as a Celtic supporter to put us winning the league, but I really think Rangers won't have the squad to cope on all fronts this year and don't see any of the other teams as a big threat. Celtic seem to have a good fresh bunch of kids coming through with a new manager who has one of the best team management in the league, and I think we'll pip Rangers through that. With Celtic going through Europe, hopefully making it to the last 16, I think our mentality in the domestic cups will slip.

edit: My Team - Stirling Albion, but we're almost bust so not worth mentioning :P

Not sure on the cups, I find them to involve a lot of luck.

I'm kinda 50/50 on 4th place in Premier. I still don't think City has a good enough team yet to push into the top 3, but I think they have enough great players to push 4th leaving Arsenal 5th. I think Liverpool will win it this year, purely as I think they really worked hard last season but just got too many draws, if they turn even a couple of those draws into wins and show the same commitment again this season (which I think they'll do) then I can see them winning, especially with Man Utd losing Tevez and Ronaldo (I can't see Owen helping enough).

Liverpool, have been fairly unsuccessful in the transfer market imo, they've paid over the odds for a good right back, and haven't signed another to partner or replace and injured Torres. Liverpool's problem last year was they were a two man team at times, if they suffer injuries again, they could find themselves off the pace. They will struggle if they lose Alonso, I can't see Real bumping up to pay over the odds for him, They've spent a lot this summer and I doubt they'll spend a massive amount again before the season starts.

I don't think that Liverpool were as much of a two man team as people say. Last season everyone I know accused Liverpool of only having 2 players and being scrapes. But you have to remember that without Gerrard or Torres Liverpool beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, who'd bean unbeaten there for 80+ games, Liverpool also beat Man Utd at Anfield. And drew with Arsenal 1-1. A lot of times we won many games with only one of these two players playing.

Can't believe so many people have Wigan to go down. Anyone see Swansea?

Arsenal drop out of the top4 - Adebayor & Toure leaving when they don't have a big squad with no real transfer market intentions as per usual. Can all change of course.. shud wait a month before predicting!

FA - Chelsea
CL - Barcelona (please, rape Real)

As for Man Utd retaining a record 4th win on the trot, they managed to win it last season when they shouldn't have in my opinion. No attacking fluency or real goal threat like they had in the seasons before, but boy did the defence and work ethic kick in to great effect. So for Ronaldo & Tevez leaving they can crack on with genuine good attacking teamplay with smart assists, rather than shaping it around Ronny and hoping for the best.
