I took £3.75k to NZ in NZD with no issues. However I ama alarmed you even thought about putting it in your suitcase, it is the most stupid idea ever. If its not for spending then why take it? If to put into an account pay £20 and get you bank to xfer it there only take a week. Also you might have to declare it otherwise some countries will take it off you if you are meant to decare (oz and nz pop into mind)

Tie the money to your body, stuff them in your socks (long socks comes in handy) - I used it to carry my $300 spending money when in the states... well, nothing compared to your big wod of cash
