About:
The Witcher represents the pinnacle of storytelling in role-playing games, shattering the line between good and evil with a world where moral ambiguity reigns. In a beautiful, rich game universe created by artists first, technology second, the player becomes his own hero in an epic, action-packed narrative uniquely defined by his actions. Returning to the roots of the role-playing genre with a fresh and modern approach, The Witcher emphasizes story and character development in a vibrant world, while incorporating tactically-deep real-time combat like no game before it.

Immersed in a vivid but harsh fantasy world, the player assumes the role of a white-haired witcher named Geralt, a renowned monster-slayer-for-hire and master swordsman with superhuman strength and reflexes. While trying to regain his lost memory, Geralt unwillingly becomes involved in a world-shaking power struggle. Created to provide entertainment for both fans of role-playing games and those seeking fast-paced action, The Witcher brings together epic storytelling and dynamic, visually stunning, and tactically deep action.

This game has been given no mention on here and im very suprised this could be the next KOTOR beater. Theres some great videos/previews on gamespot to wet your appetite:)

Quite looking forward to this, even though I haven't been following it all that closely. Will mostly be interested, at least initially, in seeing what they've managed to do with the Aurora Engine TBH.

Looks good - haven't heard anything about this either. Quite pleased that we're finally getting some games based on Eastern European author's universes after the success of Sergey Lukyanenko's Night Watch.

Edit: Damn, my rig just about meets the minimum requirements. Hope gameplay doesn't suffer too much :(

I haven't been following the game religiously but from the videos I've seen it does look good.

I hope it's more rpg than hack and slash though and will definitley be trying it out.

I have not pre-ordered this yet even though it looks great and is very much my type of game. The only thing that scares me is how well it will run because the Aurora engine is a bit of a dog. I know it has been heavily modified but NW2 does not run that great for the way it looks. It is very clunky with jerky animations and the loading times are long for the small levels. Not my favourite engine so I will wait for reviews. (I will probably cave in as usual and have it on pre-order by Wednesday)

People that have played it such as IGN say it runs smoothly so don't worry about the engine. I have been following this game for a long time now and I think its going to be awesome.

been following this game for ages as well and am looking forward to it. this game drew my attention to books. So much so I read the first one that has been translated into English - The Last Wish. My first fantasy novel. Even though I love this type of game and the the movies that deal with this same fantasy subject matter, have never read a book of that ilk. Was quite a good read and gave a nice introduction to Geralt, the way he is perceived and the type of world he occupies.

I am tempted to wait for reviews though only as there are some great games coming out in November which I also want to buy (Mass Effect and Crysis anyone?). The thing is that these type of games try so much so that it either does not work or needs patching heavily.

Will wait for now and see what the reviews say. Like I said, if it wasn't for the stella line up in November this would be on preorder. Hope some website puts my fears to rest so I can get a great game Friday.

Im personally waiting for a demo, been a few games ive bought that have ended up not being completed because i didnt like them or they were full of bugs.

As usual I am taking a leap of faith by ordering before reviews or demos. I should be playing on Thursday so I will let you guys know how it is.

Demos for an RPG are pretty pointless; the combat, interface and other areas - while important - don't make a good RPG. Character progression, story and emotional attachment make a good RPG, can't put that in a demo :).

Yes as already mentioned this is actually running on the old NWN1 engine It looks like they have done a nice job of textures and such, I thought you could tell it was the same engine on some of the videos though. Regardless it looks nice and the graphics do the job, gameplay is what matters.

I really do hope it is good, there has been a serious lack of good rpgs lately.
