I live in London and you would be mad to start bringing in every nutter you see on the street....you would be one very robbed and stabbed man....

Now you've gone from saying I think homeless people are "sub-human" to saying I think homeless people are "a group different to the rest of us"
Please stop pulling **** out of thin air.
I think that's really not quite right.
First of all you need to miss a great deal of mortgage payments. Then you need to exhaust any money you have renting. Then you need to be unable to afford to rent. Then you need to exhaust your friends and family to the point where not one of them will take you in. And then you've got various charities who will help.
I think the reality of it is that most homeless people are homeless due to addiction, there is a great deal of help out there, but if you're an addict then you have to choose between your addiction and help, and of course addiction wins.
There's no way to tell this woman was homeless, she may have been just made homeless that night for all we know.

Comparing homelessness in Staffordshire with homelessness in London is just stupid.
If she was some drunk nightclub totty you would have invited her in, but as she was in a group you don't like you didn't. Either way you didn't think she was worth making a fuss over.
True, but I was referring to people like us becoming homeless for whatever reason, she may be an alcoholic now but she wasn't born that way.
This is what I meant by humanity, at some point all these people were just like us and had family who cared for them - why now do they not deserve to be treated as one of us, to be left outside like a dog waiting for the RSPCA.
What so your homeless are completely different to our homeless?
My point is that I've seen Londoners step over people, and I've never seen them do that here.
It's actually a pretty common opinion by Northerners that London people are a bit uncaring, which is an unfortunate generalisation because some do, but that's the impression we get when we have to go there for work and see what goes on.

There are a great many more homeless in London than there are in the suburbs. It isn't nice that people are stepped over or not invited in, but it is reality. There was a spate of robberies, some time ago, in Motherwell where a woman would come to an old persons house, looking in distress, and once you opened the door and let them in they'd hit them on the head with a rock and loot the house.
If someone is homeless and addicted (and especially if they appear to be out of their head) then letting them in to your house might be dangerous, but it's certainly got a high likelihood of damage being caused to your property, or being unable to get them to leave.
If it was 'nightclub totty' then that'd be a bit easier because you know that they'd almost certainly be manageable when sober and you could quickly understand why they were in the state they are in. Because of that I'm sure people would be more forthcoming. However when they appear to be foreign, in distress or have mental issues and look homeless then it's less wise.
It is very easy indeed to preach to people what they should do, when you are not in the same position and your values will not be tested.
Just because you don't like what I'm saying doesn't mean I'm trolling, or that my every post requires you to pretend you are dramtically rolling around the floor in hysterical laughter.
Just make her a cup of tea next time eh?
I have helped people when the opportunity arose, I've even had the joy of cleaning adult urine and poo from my floor, many times I've put somebody into the recovery position and put a blanket over them. I'm sure most people have been called out in the middle of the night to help a friend but I don't go looking for it.
This isn't preaching, this is just following the principle that you treat people like you would like to be treated.

Bit late for that dude. Police came at around 3AM (earlier on in thread) and took her to the local station.
Apparently, if you have visual contact with a homeless person, you're automatically become fully responsible for their wellbeing.

I'm so glad I've been born and raised in London. I'm a proud Londoner. I've said this many times and I'll say it again; even If I won the lottery I'd still live in London because London is ****ing awesome!
It's now absolutely clear that you have some sort of personal vendetta against London. Your village lifestyle does not apply in London. London is a whole different ballgame mate. After all, you can get mac-10s within three minutes round here.

Quite a few years back there was an incident around here where a woman had knocked on a mans door late at night for help but little did the man know that it was a setup with two other men hiding nearby. Once he went out to speak to the woman they jumped him and attacked him inside his house and stole a few things.
It's great if this sort of thing doesn't happen where you are but in London it's different.

They're simply going to drop her off at Stratford Station, poor woman had 3 bin liners full of stuff as well.
I went out and explained to them that she may have a relation to the guys living in the ground floor flat. She was refusing to go anywhere for almost 40 minutes. All the poor woman knew to say was "Stratford" so they said they'll take her to Stratford Station.
