The Kings International Gauntlet 2007

yep i'll take part if you need someone to make up the numbers....

now just need to find a good reason why my wife's new computer needs to be on all the time.....

I'm in!

I still run Boinc on one core and Fold on the other.

Do I need to register or anything?

Mind you, it would be nice if I could actually get some flamin' work units!

As always I will be in anything to do with seti. :D

Although I will only have a single lowly X2 to contribute. :(

I'm happy to switch all the boxes I have access to over to seti for a short time.

I think we need a seperate thread forming a list of all those willing to participate and their CPU type and speed and their amount and speed of Memory. (nothing else will affect performance particularly will it??

Agreed

Sounds just like the good old days :D I will happily switch my boxes back to BOINC from moneybee/SoB for this, but which BOINC project(s) is the Gauntlet across? Is it SETI?

I'll swap over my office and home machines, plus the servers. That should generate some powah.
Oh excellent news sir, good stuff :)

Will make that thread then.

Edit to avoid double post: How long does the "gauntlet" last? Ie. how many days/weeks/months folding will I miss? :)

Looks like the 2005 one was from Monday 21st February until Monday the 14th March, so 3 weeks. 20-30 crunchers per team.

Joeyjojo you might want to edit the first post in your sign up thread to get people to specify how long their machines will be on? Just incase there not all 24/7. Because that will make far more difference than CPU speed. :)

I can contribute if the credits are boinc wide and not just SETI.

I was getting about 2500 a month before Christmas hols and Einsteins dodgy scheduler hurt my stats. :(

Good call. Should have said that the first time  :)

Edit: ok put some info up there. Where's Mr. Berserker anyway? I'm sure he has some input, he organised it in 2005.

Really impressed with the turnout for this. 15+ currently, with a nice mix of farms, big and small. Quality not quantity I would say.

If we could make 20 that would be great. 30 would be even better :)

Berserker and people involved last time - got anything to add? You were around last time. How was it organised? Looks like there were loads of crunchers. I suppose OcUK has a huge seti past. Did the last one fall in the "seti golden age"? That would explain the huge turnout. Or have numbers gradually fallen? Or are numbers the same, just fewer crunchers posting? Discuss :)

Edit again: woah, 202 active members according to Berserker's seti thing. Where are you all? :D

A lot of them don't post or aren't active on the forums. The last one was at tne end of the SETI golden age and I'm afraid it all went a bit sour at the end. Too many accusations of cheating. I don't want that to happen this time.

I'm not sure about the KIG team sizes. I'd prefer if we stuck to one team as otherwise we'll get spread out too thinly, but there might be a limit on the size of an individual team which would prevent that.

What's stopping us from donating machines to fold under another username thus raising our output from a single team?

I'm thinking we could have an ocuk gansters username for everyone with an older machine or one which isn't on very much. I'd fold for it. That would allow us to get more users in one team, preferably all users. And we can group the lesser crunchers together into a super user.

Smacks of abusing the rules to me, but since I haven't seen the rules I can't say for sure.
Well that's what i'm asking, is this against the rules?
How do they define the 30 people or whatever a team consists of i wonder...
I'll see if i can find some rules.

But technically if one can enter a farm under a single username that would be no different.

Edit: We entered the ocuk stomp monster previously under one user name... no sign of any rules just yet.
