About:
Famed game producer Hironobu Sakaguchi of Mistwalker and developer Artoon present the highly anticipated Xbox 360™ exclusive Blue Dragon. Featuring the character design of Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball Z and music by Nobuo Uematsu of Final Fantasy, Blue Dragon is an epic role-playing game that centers on a young boy named Shu and several of his friends.

These unlikely heroes possess the power to control phantom shadows that mirror the actions of their masters, giving Shu and his comrades miraculous strength and magical powers.

The warriors can create and develop their combat styles by utilizing different types of Shadow Change, including Sword, Assassin, and Power Magic. Shu and his friends must use the shadows as weapons and wield their skills to save their world from impending doom.

Encountering various people on a planet where numerous ancient ruins remain, the characters and their shadows travel through a world full of mysteries and illusions, where the slightest touch can cause reactions of unparalleled magnitude.

Innovative RPG gameplay features: As their quest progresses, warriors can create original attack methods by utilizing several types of Shadow Change, including Sword, Assassin, and Power Magic. You can choose to focus the hero on certain areas of expertise. Shadows level up and gain new abilities associated with the job they are currently doing. Once gained, abilities are not lost and remain available to use when needed.
Massive scope and engrossing environments: Shu and his companions battle their way through an immense world filled with vividly illustrated remnants of ancient civilizations long forgotten.
Stunning graphics: Taking full advantage of the power of Xbox 360, Blue Dragon engages you in a world and characters that are brought to life with vibrant colors and detail, from Shu's wild hair to his martial arts-style garb, conveying the beautiful simplicity and sense of adventure found in this truly next-generation RPG.
Dazzling character design and effects: Toriyama’s unique influence is evident in the design of the game’s anime style characters, as their actions are enhanced with next-gen blur effects. Additionally, the game’s algorithmic animation system adds heightened realism to character and creature movements.
Famed developer: Mistwalker is a creative company founded by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the original developer of Final Fantasy. Operated by a handful of experts, the direction of new Mistwalker is influenced by Sakaguchi’s extensive industry experience. Artoon is a digital entertainment design, development, and production company with rich talent and experience. Centering on the design and development of original content, Artoon is mainly involved in the development of software through external cooperation, as well as the design and production of entertainment content in the mobile communication category.

The latest weekly edition of Famitsu hits Japanese shelves tomorrow. Within it's authoritative pages...a BLUE DRAGON REVIEW!

And they reviewed it lovingly.

It scored a 9, 9, 9 & 10 from the editors, which gives it a mighty 37/40 total score.

Demo review:

Gameplay:
Being a FF fan i jumped straight into this with very few problems the controls were great. It seems to be easy to pick up and play, but not mistaking that there seems to be a lot to it aswell. The combat seems very much like FF but with a lot going on like for example some of your characters can charge up there attacks to hit a lot harder. Im still unclear how that works i think you got to touch the lines?
There seems to be a great story Involved and the characters even though i only got to play the demo for 120 minutes i was echanted by them already.

Graphics:
The best ive ever seen from an rpg and pretty much any other game. It looks so cute, it was after all designed by then dragon ball z creator. The limit break animations are breathtaking and i enjoyed everyone of them.

Sound:
The music is great especially the boss fights, it really makes it sound like these fights are a big deal. And every setting seems to fit to the right music like the eerie music inside the spaceship to the beating music of the jungle.

Overall:
Great demo and if its as good as that then this is a must buy for any FF and rpg fan or even someone looking to get into the world of rpg. This mammoth game is on 3 huge dvds so this gonna be stinking huge game maybe the largest weve seen and im sure its quality all the way through.
10/10 :)

I'd been put off by the poor review in Edge, so it's good to see it getting some decent marks elsewhere.

Think I might just have to place an order..

The boss battle music is cool. The first time...

I hope in the full game the music is a bit more varied. Having lyrics makes it more obvious how repetitive it is.

Well it got 9/10 in the Official Xbox 360 Magazine and one thing they did like was the sound/music so I think you should be OK there.

I never trust Edge reviews too much, they've marked many games I love low, I think they base too much on Innovation where sometimes they should just accept a good game.

Now a question :

Anyone know the approx playtime for the game, I'm guessing 40+ hours ?

I've been listening to the Soundtrack for months, its very very like Final Fantasy (Great) as you would expect with it being done by Nubuo Uematsu :)

Each line represetns a characters turn to attack, if you charge the attack over a line then that character won't attack until the other characters (the line you cross) has first. So if you charge it upto just before the first line then you wont have to wait until another character attacks, but will get a slightly more powerful attack.

If that makes any sense.

I just feel with vocals it makes it more obvious that the music is repeating all the time. Makes it get stuck in your head and I find it annoying.
